Ikea’s business is growing with the country’s economy and Malaysians can look forward to more Ikea stores in Johor Baru and Penang, as well as another outlet in the Klang Valley, in the future.Â
“We have customers from Thailand and Indonesia, who come specifically to Ikea to buy things. So, we hope to grow, too, as the country grows – and we always adopt the attitude that, if Malaysia boleh, Ikea boleh,†added Lau.Â
Dream kitchen: Ikea, one the main sponsors of The Star’s ‘Happy 50 Malaysia’ contest, will be partially furnishing the house that is the grand prize, Lau shows a kitchen unit similar to that which will be installed in the house.

AW Faber-Castell (M) Sdn Bhd (Faber-Castell Malaysia), is on an expansion drive this year. Managing director Toh Yan Peng said the group would seek suitable locations to set up more Faber-Castell retail boutiques and kiosks locally.Â
“We have two boutiques at the moment and we will be setting up the third boutique in Sunway Pyramid Phase 2 in September. We intend to open up to 14 Faber-Castell concept stores in the country within the next three years. These stores will include Graf von Faber-Castell shop-in-shop, kiosks and boutiques,†Toh told StarBiz in an interview.Â
