Well, I calculated a trip for Penang from KL using MAS would be 152.00, Airasia would be 82.00 MYR, and Firefly would be 102.00 for the dates June 20-22….
Personally I would also opt for Airasia, it’s really no fuss, and Airasia’s flight regularity has improved so much. I haven’t had a single delayed flight in the last year. MAS’s only benefit is food is served, but their taxes are super high. Doesn’t Firefly belong to MAS too? Well, I’ve heard terrible delay stories of Firefly! Not to mention what very limited destinations they have.

I much prefer MAS, as although the fee is much, much cheaper than usual price, the quality still the same - safety, food, treatment from the stewardess & steward. And between all three, MAS is the best airlines

Well, for airasia the low rates are all at those odd hours such as evening, afternoon, week days or other unconvenient day and time. If they would like to gives us low rate and create awareness why not give some flights out with nice time thn just provide those promotions on odd time?
e.g- i have been try to book return flights to kuala terengganu from kl but the flights with promotion is all either depart from kl at late evening or at night; depart from KT timing with promo will be at late night or early morning.
Air Asia notice that many ppl will book the flight to island trip but if thy wanted to giv out reasonable package why not provide those 1flate rate on the whole day thn just giving out free tickets on the odd days and odd hours.

i though the free tickets from MAS is actually their FireFly flights.. not MAS flights??
anyway, if i were to choose, i will choose FireFly even if the fare is higher by a few ringgit (base on what Air Asia calculated for us), reason being i don’t have to travel all the way to LCCT. Subang airport is so much nearer for people staying in PJ. And what’s with them (Air Asia) charging us for checked-n luggage ha? RM3 per luggage checked in ok? So people, try to hand carry your bag!
But bare in mind the FireFly planes are very small, and my mum also said FireFLy cancelled their flights last minute for several times already..

preference on MAS of coz. MAS now also offer supersaver flights which the price quite reasonable to be considered. Of course if you want price which started with RM9.99 you wont get from MAS supersaver. but yet the quality services are unbeatable if compared to Air Asia.
Air Asia not suitable for pregnant women, olders and wheelchair peeps. They charged these people with X-Press boarding which if u opt for that and add to their price, yet not so cheap and by the way, the people who queue up without the Xpress boarding still can catch up with those who pay.. (yar.. cannot blame them since it is free seating anywy)..

With little price difference, I would definately fo with MAS. Not sure about Firefly. Taking AA is like getting on BMW (Bas Mini Wilayah) everyone doing the 100m sprint even already having an Xpress Boarding!!!
I Flew with AA with my baby (now 12months) and the experience isn’t good but the fare is just too tempting. But with MAS giving similar promotion, MAS will be the choice. Even my last trip to Macau, the AA “chief” stewardess wasn’t very helpful either. So if you are pregnant, travelling with babies, senior citizen and other. Don’t even think about AA.
I cannot comment on FF. Did not fly on it before.

i would prefer AirAsia as MAS service is KNS although the seats are better than AirAsia, when the stewardass serve malaysian, they wont smile one….wah…when they r serving foreigner, wah..180 degree change

I believe AA have improved a lot. I have taken the FF.. the delay.. wow.. I think may be on every flights.. I still take FF though because of the proximity to shah alam.. As for in flight service I believe they are not bad. But I wish they have more selection of food item to buy on board.. MAS.. yup I agree the sweetest smile is only for the mat salleh..

Well, if you are flying on low budget I would recommend firefly since if there is any delay you will still opt for your money back or stay for the next flight. I was traveling from Bandung to KL and there was a delay flight with Air Asia. I have to stay at the airport for the next flight which is the following day. It sucks coz I was traveling with my two kids. Of coz I would opt for MAS…. travel with style and pleasure. When my pocket are full.

I guess i will go with Firefly. So far i haven’t gotten problem travel with Firefly but js a few delays. I guess every airline also got delay. Even MAS also will delay sometimes, so it is not the main point for not choosing them. FOr me, convenint & safety is the most important things in running an airline. Heard my friend from engineering said that Air Asia maintance like sux. Better becareful when travel with Air Asia. Firefly still ok because it is MAS subsidiary, so i trust that their safety precaution must be very good.
Anyway, fly with Firefly more convenient for me as i stay in Subang. Cut time and cost from that. Does anyone recall that when Air Asia starts operation a few years back, they also keep cancelling and delay the flight due to commercial purposes…good and bad is depends on how you all evaluate it.

have anyone of you heard that AK issue complaint letter for Firefly for the misleading ads “calculator don’t lie” …haha…it made me feel that Tony is really like kid and childish la…at frist he said MAS has stolen hie toy from his playground, now complaint Firefly for the ads….finally he feel his AK shaking now….hahahaha…for me, Tony is a loser..so sad
May 20th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
wahaha, Tony really did that? OMG, he also start worry already? hahahahha…long jouney for them to fight…at the end of the day, consumer is the winner, don’t you tink so

MAS and Airasia @ KLIA right? but Firefly from Subang… hmmm, nearer to my house-Shah Alam… any good/bad comments about Firefly??
May 25th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Adam,
So far I have not heard anything bad about Firefly. But you can check out what this blogger has to say about the flying experience with Firefly.

LP: Tony is bad at business pressure. Last time he more or less monopolise low fares. Now he panic and every week got new promo!!! But you notice the promo make you book so many months before you fly. How to book and plan holiday so early??? Crazy…
Adam: MAS fly from KLIA. AirAsia fly from LCCT. If you go from KL, LCCT is further. Taxi normally charge app. RM5 more if going to LCCT..

to me air asia will in desprate phase now.. guys we need to remember.. budget airline means budget maintance to… safety not coming 1st.. money coming FIRST…
May 26th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Wei!! cannot compromise on safety la.. nyawa tu!! hope other airline is better than AA.
May 27th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Haha… I don’t think budget airline means budget maintenance applies to all, especially AirAsia. Don’t think that they compromise the safety.

May 28th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
No prob Adam, my pleasure
Hey guys quick question, do you know if the Everyday Low Fares is a MAS promotion when the 0 Fare finishes? Is it on going? or just a short promotional thingy?
May 28th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
i calculate too. From KL to Terengganu. Cheaper by a few ringgit only actually if i were to choose fireflyz.
Plus it depart from Subang, so i rather be flying with fireflyz than Air asia.
i’ve been travelling with Air Asia a couple of time.. and i hate it!

Hi Guys, sharing my experience here. I’ve booked my FireFly ticket and it was changed 3 times, attention: WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION,NEITHER CALLS OR SMS OR EMAIL. Damm horrible right? my flight is 3 days to go, now i have to call and confirm my flight EVERYDAY until the depart date. I hope there is no delay on my departure date. Please GOD, blessing on my flight. It’s kinda sad right when wew pay and have to rely on GOD to safeguard our flight schedule. I’ll say NO to Firefly for my next vacation, AirAsia is my choice, even though i have to RM65 for a cab from PJ to LCCT. Anyway, compare with the uncertainty of delay flight and change of schedule(you may missed the flight due to change of schedule–without notification!! ), paying for the extra transportation fee to LCCT is worth.

I have the same experience in ahfatt. I made a HUGE mistake by going with Firefly. I am due to fly to Kuala Terengganu on Sunday and fly back on Wednesday. My flight back on Wednesday is initially scheduled at 4pm. I checked 3 days before my flight and found out that they changed the 4pm flight to 815am! And they DID NOT INFORM me! If I have not checked, I would happily arrive at the airport at 230pm only to find out there is no more flight out for that day. I would be stranded in Kuala Terengganu!
A friend of mine had a similar experience. They took Firefly to Phuket but when they went to the airport to check in from Phuket flight back to Malaysia, they discovered the flight has been cancelled and NO ONE INFORMED them! They had to stay another night at Phuket and because there is no Firefly flight back the next day, they had to take MAS out. When they made the complaint, Firefly refused to compensate them!
I am writing to the newspaper to complaint!
