The daunting task begins each time when you are faced with a new can of growing up milk powder. Why must they always hide the spoon so deep in? As most mom and dads would do each time we open a can of milk, we start the process of the Amazing Hunt! Where on earth is that Spoon?

Milk Powder SpoonAs parents, we can’t help but over emphasize the importance of hygiene. So most of us would wash our hands twice (at least one of the two times with soap), and determine whether we should just stuff our hands into the can or should we empty the milk into another plastic container so that we can drain the powder to get the spoon.

We could try and shake the can “gently” with a little hope that the spoon will just surface! (and Oops spilled some milk powder in that process)

Alternatively, we can also get a long utensil, and start digging around; just like how treasure hunters would dig into the sand to find precious metals. So where did the spoon get lodged this time?

Poke, poke, poke ….. and Voila! The spoon has been located in quadrant two, two thirds of an inch from the base of the can. Bring the excavator … let’s see how we can dig up the spoon without spilling any of the milk powder? :)

Of course for those who have maids to help in the milk preparation, might now be even be more concerned. Did your maid wash her hands before sticking them into the milk can? Were her hands wet or dry when digging in for the spoon? Yikes!! Hmmm …. Yeah better go audit that milk preparation process now!

You mean, no one ever told you how much trouble it is to get the spoon out of the powdered milk can? Of course some smart parents will just ignore the spoon that’s provided and just fish out an old spoon from a previous can … which leaves the thought, then why did they in-plant a spoon into the milk can in the first place?

Dutchlady Frisco Gold MilkWell … thanks to innovators of great science and smart thinking at Friso Gold Milk, or perhaps it’s the air in Netherlands, anyway, they have finally discovered a way to ensure that the spoon is easily found in the milk canister, each time you open a can of Friso Milk. And the best part, its totally clean and hygienic!

How? Well, the spoon is fastened onto the existing plastic cover of the can. It has a special clasp that holds the spoon in place and that keeps it clean at all times.

What we like about the milk cover is that it’s attached to the can, so it will never be misplaced, or would never fall in between the stove and the fridge.

They thought of everything! The best thing we love about Friso Gold is that they have placed a little ledge at the side of the milk can where you can use it to level the milk powder on the spoon. This ensures consistency in the portion of milk powder given to our child.

Needless to say, Friso Gold comes with DHA , AA & SA, all that’s essential for every child’s developmental growth and health.

Hey I love this little invention to make finding the spoon easier, thus keeping all that cleanliness about! I have the same dislike in digging out the buried spoon each time. Hey at least now I know I’m not the long-ranger freak! :D

  2. amy says:

Yes, I love the new Mamil Gold and Friso packing but unfortunately, can’t just change baby milk powder like that. So am hoping the brand I use will come out with something innovative so that I do not need to hunt for the spoon.

  3. mama says:

I think the new packaging is good. But I just would like to share my experience with all the mommies that, this new packaging (friso) even though its hygiene, but the packaging is “ANTS FRIENDLY”. Meaning that, bugs such as ants can easily get into this new packaging as compared to the old one! I had never experience with ants problem when i’m using the old packaging. So can friso distributor please do something about this. I don’t like the ants mess aroung with my kid’s milk!

  4. mummy says:

    huh?!? Ant’s Friendly ah….

  5. Karen Tan says:

    Hi.

We are delighted that you seem very happy with the brand and their continuous innovations for moms and you are actively promoting this useful packing to others. I just wanted to highlight that the brand name is FRISO not FRISCO but nevertheless, thank you for your support.

    Cheers,

    Karen

  6. Leong says:

Why don’t you keep the earlier spoon used (from the recently finished tin) until the new spoon “pops up”? Works for me!

  7. Muarster says:

U know what, most of the spoon inside ur milk powder made frm my dad’s factory ;)

  8. sns says:

    Dear Karen
Bummer!! Tks for the highlight … yes its FRISO and not FRISCO! Whooops!

    Dear mama
U mean the ants can creep into the can via the cover?

    Dear Leong
Yeah we do keep the spoon. But as we mentioned… why give us a spoon, if we can’t locate that spoon, that why we sport Friso! :)

    Dear Muarster
Mebbe i can get some spoons from u :)

  9. braindead says:

that is the problem with our current generation… totally spoilt and brain-dead… only leong had the common sense to keep the earlier used milk spoons… nowadays the current generation has to be spoon fed!!

  10. Yangyang says:

I would say this is an innovative invention undoubtly.
But to me, my priority in choosing a milk formula is not whether the spoon is easily found or not, it is the quality or the nutrients of the formula.
Secondly, personally I think we actually dun need the spoon in every can.
I usually wil keep the old spoon coz I dun like to dig to look for the new spoon. But more importantly is becoz it is not enviromental friendly to throw it like that.
I think the spoon shd be recycled to be reused again.
Can u imagine how many plastic spoons we throw everyday jjust from milk powder??
so what I do now is to collect all these spoons and let my kids play with it.
My suggestion is to bring down the cost of each can & sell the spoon separately if we find we need it, just like the syringe for medicine which is sold separately.
BTW, i just wonder Y this article appear here ah??
Is this a commercial ad fr Friso??

  11. Ai Nee says:

Both of my sons (aged 2 & 4 yrs old) are taking Friso. I bought this new Friso hygiene pack two weeks ago in Tesco Puchong.

I like this pack a lot as I won’t have any worries about the hygiene aspects as sometimes, my maid helps me preparing the milk for my kids (dunno whether her hands are properly cleaned or not).

So far, I have no issue with the ‘friendly ants’ entering the milk powder- as I always remind my maid and myself to close the pack properly after used.

  12. Xiya says:

This may not sound important but may I know when does this new packaging of Friso introduced?

  13. Kelly says:

I do agree with Mama that it is ANTS Friendly….I don’t have this problem with the old packaging and now I am thinking of changing to MAMIL GOLD for my daughter.

I did call up Dutch Lady to inform them about this. They seemed surprised to hear this. I hope those who have this problem will call them up to make the numbers up so that they can do something. BTW, is MAMIL GOLD ok?
