  5. fooi says:

  6. Andre says:

    Fooi,

I dont see why you should wait for it. I bet it will disappoint you.
I always goto LowYat Plaza buy IT stuffs because even PCFair cant fight their price and services.

    2GB DDR2 667MHz only cost RM11x and 2GB DDR2 800MHz only RM12x.
Both are SODIMM meant for notebook. The pricelist I checked belongs to Viewnet. Brand is Kingston. I got a friend who bought from HP much more expensive and not including installation. Lucky she know me and teach her how to install. Not to mention brands like Kingston give lifetime warranty compared to HP or Dell. Kingston office is somewhere in Uptown area in case you need to RMA. Very fast somemore.

Wow Andre. Luckily you post here. Because I am looking for a notebook. I guess i will go to LowYat instead of this fair. Thanks Andre!

  8. kenji says:

thanks andrre for the info! been looking towrds adding ram to my laptop as it’s just getting way too slow

  9. Andre says:

If you are going to buy laptop, I suggest you take a look and shortlist a couple that you wanted before making the final decision. The reason is simple as computer technology advance beyond our imagination. Every now and then they will refresh their offering, by adding some new stuffs here and there.

When buying from shops in LowYat, remember to ask for free upgrade for RAM, free mouse, or whatever they can offer. Dont be shy. If buy online, I suggest you checked Dell. Once in a while, Dell will come up with some pretty hefty discount that really make you awe. If you are not a tech savy girl, there is a pretty good reason to choose Dell. Of all the brands you can find, I bet only Dell offer onsite support, so do make a wise decision and use the extra savings that you get from their occasion discount to purchase their completecover warranty. I havent bought Dell before, but my friend who manage his company IT department tells me, Dell is very good with user support. Any problem, just give them a call, and they will come to you in 1-2days time. As for other brands, you will have to goto their office/service center to check the problem.

I didnt buy Dell as I couldnt wait for the discounts. I bought up Acer due to cheap price but better specification. 2 months after my purchase, Dell reduce the price to match Acer’s offering but too late for me.

Hmm…Thanks Andre..your information is really helpful..I am not a savvy tech girl, i just need a laptop to do my work with Microsoft Office tools only. Thanks again Andre!!

  11. baby_innie says:

hi andre….do u know who can repair laptop…? i know got somebody know how to repair laptop in lowyat…any idea?

  12. Emmanuel says:

Hi…about buying RAMs…do not hesitate to buy from lowyat.
I have a fren who works at ALL-IT hypermart in lowyat. He tells me…fast going items like rams they only mark up a little from cost price. Same goes to usb memory sticks.

As for laptops…If you’re interested, have a fren who can get supplier price that is cheaper than lowyat. His email is compsupplier@gmail.com. Am engaging with him to buy a laptop currently. You may ask him to quote for a particular model or ask him for some catalogue thing.

    Hope this helps.

  13. Andre says:

    baby,

I have no idea. I always fix my own PC myself and this is my first laptop. I have open up a laptop, my bro dying Twinhead model, and after I put it together, sometimes it can boot but most of the time cant. So I still sucks at laptop maintenance.

Laptop parts are ridiculously expensive which explained why you should go for the extra warranty that only cost RM300-500 more. Most of the time, people will sent it back to the manufacturer’s service center and got chopped by the price, but guarantee original stuffs and have few months warranty (If not mistaken 3months or 6months depending on which part).

  14. pengyew says:

    been there, not many booth.

location is at the flee market place. outdoor. not many choice,

price is more a less lowyat price (ly maybe cheaper)

    but got freebie give away…

  15. syan says:

yeah lar.. the freebie is you buy things they give you paper bag for your carrying convinienve :P
