I would like to comment on the prices some ppl are selling the items for.
I went to the sale also and I have gone through some of the blogs links here. Noticed that some of the prices are jacked up to a very unreasonable prices.
For example, the price for the Mac nail lacquer was Rm28 for 3. Here there are ppl who are selling it at RM30 per bottle. In total the person is making 200% profit out of this. The Clinique eye shadows refill is Rm10 for 2 piece and the person is selling it at Rm20 per piece (and it wasn’t even in the proper casing)
That is another 300% profit. What about the MAC pigment? If i remembered correctly it was 2 for Rm45 or 35 (not sure). Ppl are sell it for Rm40 each. If you read at most of the blogs or asked around, the price are standard among the same group of cronies.
I dun want to mention name but i really do think the person(s) should be considerate as most of the buyers here are still studying and just looking for a good bargain. Even if the prices are below retail, price set should be set with a good conscience and intention. I also sold the extra stuff that i bought with a nominal 10% only to my colleagues. I only put a 10% because i just want to get back the parking fee that i paid.. nothing more… but this is ridiculous how ppl pull up the price till it covers their own purchase. Imagine you paying for them to spend and the items you get are those rejected ones (i.e unpopular colours packed in with the popular ones).
I really think it is unfair!
Have you think about how people get up at 3am in the morning to go Q, if you feel so unfair why don’t you go there youself? Not to mention people spend money to buy the invitation.
unfair? pls don’t buy. You have a choice.
I seriously don’t think convenience is free, neither are efforts of people. If you want to compare your own effort pls compare by yourself. And speak for yourself.. u sellin to colleagues… i dun even give a dam how much u charging, but you are charging something. It’s only a matter of time b4 u stop doing that bcoz it’s not worth your while and/or u start charging more n opening shops like these people.
Go check out lowyat, everyone is selling something there to survive in this country. If you’re a student, u should be studying, not looking for bargains.
Why don’t you go tell the shopping center n retailers to be considerate of students and what not? they’re earning 500% more (in which I don’t even know how u calculate percentage out like that?).
What a shallow minded and selfish person for even citing most of the things you stated here.
Lisa,
The reason for buying things from a warehouse sale is to get cheap stuff, not pay almost the same price as over the counter. If everyone can afford to pay retail, they don’t have to wait for warehouse sales already. So that answers your remark on telling shopping center and retailers to be considerate of students. If students should only study, are u saying that those who are working should only work and not look for bargains? Think before u talk. U sound like an idiot!
But u are right, convenience is not free. Are u saying that these people went out of their way to queue at 3am WITHOUT the intention of buying things for themselves? They are inconveniencing themselves just for the sole purpose of buying things for others and hope to profit from there? They dun even want to buy anything at all for themselves? Please, get real!
Yee’s mark up of 10% is nothing compared to the 300% or whatever % others mark up. I dun think she’s looking to make money from the sales, unlike those really unscrupulous ones who mark up and charge service fee also. U sound like one of them
I m going to answer all your posts in one
seriously then.. u are the KID who needs to do the growing up. Look at your own responses. Consideration for others is an important value to learn, so is humility. You have no respect for others opinion and thus deserve no better.
I don’t have to buy from these ppl. I bought enough for myself, but looking at the things being sold at such inflated prices, I feel really sorry for some of the buyers here. Ask yourself this question, how would it make you feel to find out that I charged you RM50 for something that is RM5. How happy would you be with your purchase when you find out that the seller “super maximize charged” you cukup cukup? Money is not easily earned, mine is not, neither is yours. If you feel so comfortable paying someone Rm50, then go ahead. I am not going to stop you from buying, but i am just letting you know what you are setting yourself up for. IF that is a crime in your eyes, I am sorry for your naivety.
I dun wan to argue with you about inconvenience and the value of ones effort. Za’s reply is already eloquently made the point.
Who is then the shallow minded and selfish person?? What part is shallow minded and what part is selfish?? Big words for a small kid. My so called earning from the sales was enough to cover the RM10 parking at the hotel. I earned too much from this, right?? I am only highlighting the price setting strategy here. With your outbursts, now it makes me think, siapa makan cili, dia terasa pedas.
How i calculate the %… simple use of maths. You know 1+2, 3X4?? too complicated for you?? [sorry, can't help being sarcastic here, esp when u attack my character in the first place]
Again caveat emptor – buyers beware.
Laneige foundation, lipstick, lip gloss and eyeshadows now got 50% offer. Till end of July.
hi YMY,
wher the sale going on 50%…….
Hi Ladies,
Honestly from me, if u think the price where selling on their blog so expensive so dont buy it. Dont bother bout ppl buying anything since they are willing to buy without forcing. Am i correct Miu, Von von, jessie n others.
Other words :-
NO PAIN NO GAIN
don’t forget ebay, lelong, lowyat, etc… pasar malam, bazaars..
they’re all garage sales n trying to earn money too..
Zarza, honestly pls read carefully, read the line where i said i also went for the sales. I was there around 6:00 am also. I also lined up in the long winding line. What baby girl said is right, if it is too expensive then don’t buy.
But how many ppl really realised the original price of the item, is it fair to be charging ppl for 4 mini lip gloss bought at RM35 for selling price of RM60?? I am merely highlighting the unfair price setting practices here. Waking up at 3 am is not a big deal esp when it is an one off thing and it is not like they queue under sun and rain. It was a nice carpeted hotel corridor, btw.
Caveat emptor – buyer beware. Beware, though you are not forced to buy, you might be seduced by the items itself. Think before you buy, not all that is cheap is good.
BTW I didn’t mentioned names, u did….
If waking up at 3am is no big deal, how about paying RM80 for the invitation card? Have to sell that mini lip gloss 3.2 times to cover back that $. This is, outrageous.
seriously..go on and whine all u want kid..
grow up
anyone intersted in mac lipglass in purple color (FROZEN DREAM A98) can email me k at nuin83@gmail.com. rm25 inc postage.tq.
if anyone is willing to buy the invitation card for outrageous $$$ then it’s their own stupidity and they shouldn’t try to cover back by selling things at super high prices.
going to queue at 3am is your choice, no one put a gun to your head and ask you to do it and you also wanted to buy the things for yourself. trying to make outrageous amount of money from people just to cover back what you spent is ridiculous. if you find queuing at 3am is inconvenient, then don’t go!
selling the invitation is also unscrupulous. no one asked anyone to take extra invitations for them so who cares if you took time off work or had to pay for parking to collect the invitations? next time just collect your own invitation and don’t take extra and then try to sell them off for profit!
I agree with both Yee & Za..
I think all of us are smart shoppers and are matured adults.
Personally, I think it is beyond our control how much ppl want to mark up/want to sell, right? if someone thinks it is still worth for she/he to pay a “high price” for the products, pls go ahead.
But fr my personal point of view,if u miss this round, just wait for next round , there are so many warehouse sales throughout the year, if u pay a higher price, might as well u buy fr the counter coz they will give u new stocks +freebies(products/premiums) +points+ rebate vouchers etc, isn’t it?
Seriously, if u ask me, anything which is not min 50% and above cheaper, not worth to squeeze & Q in the WHS.
Dun get offended with what yee & Za said, they only
“kasihan” for those who paid high price only.
Have a nice day!! everyone
seriously, she complaining without making sense..
btw i do agree, mark up nearly the same price as counter, dun go waste your time to buy.
if u din make it to the sales, wait next year or another sales.
there’s so many around.
if u can’t tahan n wan to buy something u really want, by all means go to lowyat etc whatever to get it.. it’s CHEAPER STILL AINT I RIGHT?
Anyone interested Clinique Line smoothing concealer, 03-moderate fair, let go same price as wh sales- RM35..try it 1 and found too fair for me..my email-sy5555@hotmail.com
More than 1 month has passed since the very controversial Estee Staff Sale. It’s a bit late but I’d ike to share my experience on that with you.
I asked someone to buy some things for me since I couldn’t make it to the sale. She said she charges additional RM10 per item, and that sounded reasonable enough so I agreed. I gave her a list of things to buy, out of which, she only managed to buy 1 item. She bought a few extra items and asked if I was interested (clinique perfumes). I bought 2 of those and paid a total of RM30 as ’service charge’ for all 3 items…or so I thought!
Later, after reading some of the comments on the actual prices of the items in this blog, I realized that not only did I pay an additional RM30 service charge to her but she also QUIETLY marked up the prices of the items by RM10-20 per item. It is my understanding that when you already charge the service charge, you DO NOT mark up the price of the items. And if you mark up the prices, you DO NOT impose the service charge. It’s either or, it cannot be both. And if you do mark up, you should have the DECENCY to inform the buyer and it is up to the buyer whether she still wants to buy the things.
Giving her the benefit of the doubt, I asked her whether she marked up the prices and she said NO, and told me that she could show me the receipt. When I asked to see the receipt, she had conveniently ‘lost’ it! But I was quite impressed when she told me that if I wasn’t happy with the price, I could return the things for a refund, but she will still charge me the service charge for her so-called time and effort. Ridiculous!
When I tried to arrange to meet her to return the things, she told me she has been posted to Langkawi til this year end. How convenient! But hey, even people who have been posted outstation will definitely come back to KL to visit their families right? Especially those who are married, and this lady definitely was married.
I smsed her almost every week asking if she was back for the weekend so that I could return the things, and the answer was always NO. Today I asked her the same question again and not only was the answer a NO, this time she told me that she doesn’t have have the money to return me anymore! What a dishonest and shady seller!
I already had a feeling from the beginning that I wasn’t going to get my money back, but I was still trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. So finally, after more than a month, she proved me right.
I have bought things from many people thru SnS before and the transactions have always been smooth, open and HONEST. This is the first time I’ve been cheated like this.
She has left me no choice but to write this to warn everyone to beware of this person. Her name is Nurul and her nick in here is Tubbies. Her e-mail address is n_hudakb@yahoo.com.
Please beware of this person. She is a very dishonest seller.
NOTE : Those of you equally unscrupulous sellers may think that marking up the prices on top of charging the service charge is alright and acceptable, as you have to cover for your parking, toll, incidentals, time, effort, whatever, etc. My point is, BE HONEST AND UPFRONT ABOUT IT and let us, the buyers decide. You can only do business with (in other words, CHEAT) us ONCE, as once you have been caught, rest assured there WON’T be a next time
i knew this person..and last time she offered me to buy the estee lauder invites for rm30 from her even it was the last night before the sales start (less than 10 hours)..and i thought i will get it for free coz she posted in SnS like it was free..huh..well i think she made a lot of money from the sales.i felt sorry for u.
i only offered you at rm 30… its not like i charge you rm 80 like other people…. you forgot to mention that later i called you back and offered you for free and you refused !!!! and i didnt made money from this… there is a cap of rm 2000 i didnt even reach half
even if i mentioned that u called me back and offered it for free there’s still a catch, i have to line up for you. i’ve refused coz its not convenient for me to do so. and who knows maybe i cant find u in that crowded place and whats the use if im in the first batch of que coz i saw many EL staff is keeping eye on the line to stopping people from cutting que.
laurie…
i took your LONG list of order without any deposit at 12 am!!! i made an effort too look for your items… i as i told you many times it is the price that i paid for those items and i add rm 10… and i have already lost the receipt because i cant find it. when you were unsatisfied i even offed to return your money and get back my stuff. you dint get back to me quickly. when i have informed you that i have been posted outstation , i suggested you post on sns to let go to other buyers.. you ask me to do for you!!!! its some thing that you can also do your self!!! AND NO YOU DIDNT NOT SMS ME EVERY WEEKEND. KEDAH WEEKEND IS ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NOT LIKE KL ,SATURDAY SUNDAY.!!! ITS NOT WORTH GOING BACK TO SPEND ONE DAY
now i m posted outstation, you want me to came back just for you!! for rm 30 . even my husband not that demanding! and i have replyed to you last week because i am outstation i am unable to return your money, i need to use my money for work.
LAURIE… THINK THE STUFF IS WITH YOU NOT ME….and there is no defect to the item.. all in good condition and when we meet up we agreed on the price and you paid me the deal is DONE . if you feel that you could find a person that can give a better price, just go ahead and deal with them .
Nurul,
First of all, am I complaining because you didn’t manage to find all the things that I wanted or that there’s a discrepancy in the price? Please read carefully. When I asked to see the receipt (which was only days later, not weeks or months) you said you lost it and were looking for it. I did tell you that if you could show me the receipt, I might not return the things. So I waited to hear from you about the receipt, which I never did until I informed you that I wanted to return the things. Then you informed me that you were posted to Langkawi. By the way, it was ME who suggested that YOU find a buyer for me here so that I can dispose of the things, since you were so far away. And you replied to ask me to post it here on SnS instead. It wasn’t the other way round!
And no, I did not sms you every weekend. Again, please read carefully. I said I smsed you ALMOST every weekend. Did I ask you to come back here specifically to see me? Did I? Kindly do not turn the story around. Your last reply was a very brief ‘i do not have the money to return to you anymore’. No other explanation. I still have your sms.
And did I ever say the the things were defective? Did I ever say they were not in good condition? I agreed on the price, + RM10 for service charge per item. If you were me and found out that the price was much cheaper that what you told me, what would you think?
whizkey,
i sympathized with your situation and that is why i post my warning in the first place. There are just too many greedy ppl who takes advantage of ppl who are eager for a good bargain. Take heart that this is a lesson for you and all to be learned. Not all that appear good, whether it is a merchandise or a person. I really do hope Tubbies can come here and defend her own action. All those so called personal shoppers here should also show a more open and honest behaviours
The only silver lining is that since Tubbies is posted to Langkawi, she can’t really do more commercial harm here.
Well, like Yee said, let this be a lesson to be learnt. I have always been an easy-going buyer…I don’t haggle much about prices but after this experience, I’ll be more stringent and careful when it comes to dealing with all these ‘personal shoppers’.
Za has a point that these people shouldn’t overcharge just because they started queueing at 3am or went through a lot of trouble (or so they say) to collect the invitations when no one asked them to do so in the first place. Trying to profit from selling free invitations is ridiculous and trying to sell the things at a much higher price to cover their own shopping expenses is downright absurd!
And Yee, someone told me that Tubbies is still in KL, apparently doing a post-grad degree. Check out the Nose warehouse sale comments.
Whizkey,
After reading Tubbies’s reply, I tend to believe you even more. I am skeptical about her saying that the she cannot verify the price.
Simple reason is that if she have lost the receipts, there is the stupid price sticker label that is on each of the item, clearly stating the prices. I call the price sticker stupid, because it was so difficult to remove from the plastic or the boxes. I am quite sure if you checked the blogs here, also have the item in the plastic bag with price tag displayed.
When the cashier gave us the item after we paid, they never remove anything or open the package (probably because they didn’t even have the time to do so). I lost the receipt too, but I can easily use the bags to refer to for pricing.
Did you get your items with or without the plastic?
Hi Yee,
I got my items without any plastic. The Clinique Happy Heart Set came with a cosmetic pouch, in a white and pink striped box. No plastic. Also, the Clinique perfume roll on trio came without any plastic. Hence, no price tags. I also got the DKNY Be Delicious Red with a cosmetic pouch in a box, no plastic.
You are right about caveat emptor. Buyers have a right to decide whether or not they still want to buy an item that has or has not been marked up. Point is the seller should be open about the mark up in the first place, then let the buyer decide.
Whizkey
So there you have it, I can confidently attest that the Clinique perfume roll on trio have a price tag on the outer plastic itself, because my fren bought it also…. Good luck in your sales..
Yee,
Yea, you just confirmed what has been my suspicion from the beginning – that the plastic was removed so that there’ll be no price for me to see!
Whizkey!
i feel sorry for your unpleasant experience with SNS seller
what a bad apple rotten seller nurul/tubbies demonstrated..
there is simply no integrity and honesty…
reasonable charging is acceptable like what yee has described
BUT additional markup ontop of service charge rm10 without saying so is despicable!!!
Making money out of black market is a ticket GOING TO HELL!!
she will get her karma..what comes around goes around !
NURUL should REFUND since she has UNHAPPY customer…
how can she come out with NONSENSE excuses
RUTHLESS SELLER!
pearl
you also selling on line, its just the people x know what is your mark up….hipokrit
Maria,
THanks for broadcasting my blog
Demand & supply and current market price is what influence how we put the price tag..on our product & service..
After that is customer satisfaction and after sales guarantee..
this is where NURUL made a FOOL out of her self!
Are you siding NURUL on how she conduct her biz dealing with Whizkey is reputable? Dont be a swindler
nothing personal here…if you look at the situation..
its how the business and dealing is being exploited..
and the unclear T&C from seller..
i guess Maria is a child and doesn’t know how to spell hypocrite let alone the meaning
Yea Pearl, totally no intergity and honesty, and despite my very lengthy explanation, she still doesn’t get why I brought this up in the first place!
It was so much more pleasant dealing with you
I know Tubbies from going to warehouse sales.
Are you sure she has done this? this sounds bad..
Hi Miu,
What I have written is exactly what happened. So why don’t you be the judge of that? I know that she was the 2nd or 3rd batch of people who went in, and from your blog, sounds like you might have went in in the same batch. I got the prices through comments from others, and through photos in your blog. Doesn’t make sense if you and others who were equally early paid a cheaper price than she did right?
I did ask her how come she supposedly paid a higher price for the same items as some others bought, and she said, and I quote ‘don’t know’ and said she has the receipt to prove, which she’s unable to produce. So let’s just say that for argument’s sake, she did indeed pay a cheaper price, then what was her intention of telling me I could return the things if I wasn’t happy with the price, and then telling me that she can’t meet me to return me my money because she has been posted to Langkawi (when according to some people, she’s actually still here, doing a post-grad degree) and then finally telling me that she doesn’t have the money to return me anymore? I guess she must’ve been hoping that I would drop it when she told me she has been posted to Langkawi! I can’t believe that she could do such things as she didn’t come across as someone capable of such deceit. I’m a relatively easy person to deal with, if the seller is honest and open with me and doesn’t take advantage of me.
So Miu dear, being a person who has gone to many many warehouse sales, if this happened to you what conclusion would you come to?
Hey Whizkey, if you are interested in letting go some of your items, just post it here. I’m sure there’s someone who’s interested (me included).
Hope u dun mind my suggestion.
Zezo,
Ok, if I sell it, I’m going to sell it for exactly what I paid, and am just worried that people might not be willing to pay cos they might feel it’s high!
Well dear i think you should just try your luck. Just trying to help as u seem very unhappy with your purchases.
Oh….come on, people, just stop whining!!! Nobody asks you to buy from these blogshops if you don’t want to….to be exact, nobody points a gun to your head to buy from them. Its a free country, free economy, so everyone has choice. Instead of scolding these small-timers, why not go hammer those ebayers and those at Low Yat?? what?? No guts??? Prices of some of these on ebay could be much higher and Low Yat, people sell at way way high prices.
somebody mention abt dept store which sells 500% more??? Yes, if u know the cost price of those cosmetics, then you’ll know how much those dept stores have ripped off !! So go hold some protests in front of these dept stores, or their importer offices!!! again, no guts?? if u want to scold pppl, go scold those big rip-off companies 1st la…they are the ones selling things at super high prices…..
If you don’t agree with the prices, then dont buy la!! There are others who dont mind paying the prices which still lower than retail. Different people have different needs……u can go and get the stuff your self, don’t mean others can do so….and for those who cant, they willing to pay the prices for this ‘personal shoppers’ to do for them!!!! so whats ur problem?
dont be a hypocrite la….if u sell for only a 10% mark up, u are still doing the same thing. dont mean that those who sell for 11% mark up or 20% or 50% are unscrupulous. if u so so righteous, then u wont sell with any markup in the 1st place la…may be give free to ppl la…since u think what others do is unfair, then do the right thing by being chartiable and feel ‘kesian’ for others!
Meena
You lost the whole message… the message, let me put it into your head is
Caveat emptor… buyers beware.. it is a reminder, a warning… that is it. If the buyer still choose to do so, it is their problem. No one said the seller shouldn’t mark up. But at least price set should be set with a good conscience and intention.
Simple.
Meena,
There is a BIG difference between 10% markup and 50% mark up. Only ignorant people do not see the difference. There is also difference in intentions. 10% markup is very minimum, to cover parking and maybe petrol. I have serious doubt that anyone can make any kind of profit from a 10% markup. 50% and above markup, the intention is clear…that is to make profit.
Give free to people? Why should an innocent party be charitable and right the wrongs OTHERS have done by giving away her things for free to people?

hi Yee, I read ur case and I feel pity the way u got cheated! Well, oredy mark $10 each and again mark up the sales price! That is too much. She can be Along! Anyhow, a lesson to everyone. Buying without any plastic during the sales is not allowed at all. If u have been to this sales all the while, u should realised it. I think she dont even look the things u listed for her and she has bought whatever things she wants and later she found that the stuf does not suits her and she just want to get rid of it and she just sale it to u!!!tink over my friend. Anyhow, always becareful cos in this world many type of people! Cheers!
Error… my earlier comments is meant for Whizkey! sorry Yee
