We were pleasantly surprised to see the surge in our Twitter followers on Saturday!

We found out later through a reader that shoppingNsales was featured in the Star Metro on Saturday (30 January 2010) on their topic on Social Media.

Written by Tho Xin Yi, the article featured various organizations and companies that update their followers using Twitter.

Here’s an excerpt from the article

INSTANT and brief are the characteristics of Twitter that help push news dissemination to greater heights.

With a word limit of 140 characters, a Twitter user (known as “Twitterer”) shares messages (“tweets”) with his or her subscribers, or “followers”.

Convenient wireless Internet connections also make it easier for people to receive updates on their mobile phones or other devices on the go.

Recently, various organisations and companies, be it governmental or non-governmental, have jumped on the bandwagon to distribute information through Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/).

There are also individuals who voluntarily share a particular kind of information with their followers, while politicians, too, tweet about their schedules and thoughts.

StarMetro explored the Twitterverse and discovered these Twitterers.
