Diapers Mamy Poko vs Huggies
Posted by mommie on Jul 29, 2008
There were lots of feedback from parents on choosing the right diaper for their kids at the Mamy Poko Warehousesales. We figured it would be better if we could keep that thread running here …. Let us have your thoughts
Â
General Feedback
1) The new Mamy Poko is smaller, not so absorbent
2) Huggies seems to be able to produce the same results
3) Huggies is cheaper
4) Mommies’ fav shopping places for Diapers …..

I went to Cold Storage Ikano after work yesterday and they are still wheeling out some of the coz it was SO SO SO cheap. I bought all in 17 packs of Huggies Ultra of varying sizes and a pack each of the pull up pants (M to XXL) for my baby. Now my house is full of diapers. HA3. Got 1 playtent and am waiting for the playmat to be couriered.
Then my mum ask to buy 5 packs for my niece also and I topped up another 2 packs to get another playtent!
Promo until next weekend, while stocks lasts.
Gila!!! Coz 3 of us tried to squezzed all the cartons into a Kelisa, imagine that!
When I got home, my hubby spreaded the offer good news with our friends who are having kids.
I really like Huggies Ultra as compared to Mamypoko as the latter sometimes do leak and lately, the new version with the green center gives my baby rashes.

Well i agree with u mommy2A.. that’s why we can see lots of huggies at shelves pricing rm32++.. Last time when the quality is better, ppl will crazily hunt it if that’s the price… Sad that most comp choose to cut down the quality of products. I gave a try to fitti, and hmmm…. not bad. Mamypoko to pricey laa..

Hmm… Huggies really that good, eh? Tried it when my baby was abt 1mth old and found that even tho there were no diaper rashes, the cutting was too small n the rubber around the thighs were abit too coarse so it gave my baby some sores .. so we changed to mamypoko. Mamypoko is fine until my daughter started using M sizes and now her bum gets red n irritated quite often… could it be bcoz of the green pad in the diaper as some of u hv mentioned? I noticed that the S n NB sizes dont hv this…
I’ve tried other brands like Pureen and Drypers while my baby was still small, and they gave her rashes, not to mention drypers use those plastic stickers to hold the diaper together so if your hand gets abit oily from rubbing ointment on ur baby’s belly then the sticker wont stick — so we had to throw the diaper out.. which was such a waste. The material was also abit heaty i guess as it caused my baby’s bum to get rashes (her skin is sooo sensitive). That was why we changed to Mamypoko… even though it is way more expensive but we figured it will save us the money for the diaper rash cream and the heartache of seeing our princess suffer.. huhu.
Anywayz, if huggies are really that good, i might consider trying it again… what size should i take if my girl is using MamyPoko size M? Should i get L size since the cutting for Huggies Ultra are kinda small? Anyone who knows pls advise…

I’ve learned that the huggies dry comfort & huggies comfort @ Giant and @ Jusco are different quality. Jusco is more expensive RM42.90 (dry comfort) but better quality than Giant RM36.99 (normal price). The packing are the same for both Jusco & Giant but the inside the quality and the cartoon of the diapers are so different. Giant’s are with “bear bear†cartoon and will leak easily but the one from Jusco with “lion and other animal†cartoon and more durable.

i tried on the Higgies ultra i bought from Ikano last week, wow, amazing, the quality is not bad ….
all the while i m using huggies dry, i bought few pcks frm ikano oso, must try 2nite for my bb. fyi, when u sign up to be huggies member, they will give u a freebie, purple color soft bag
Just bought 7 packs of Huggies Ultra last night… huhu. I honestly have not bought that many diapers in my life! Now my house looks like a diaper shop! Hahaha. Plus the added playtent in my living room… I must say it is bigger than i thought it would be..
For those who intend to get those Huggies @Ikano, esp those who are changing from their old brand diapers to Huggies, bear in mind that Huggies Ultra’s sizes are smaller than most diapers. I measured my daughter’s M sized MamyPoko to Huggies and found that its closer to the L sized Huggies! So in a way, we’re not really saving THAT much coz we had to buy a bigger size (with less diapers per pack) but we figured it would be worth it if we bought more.. huhu.
And Jo’s right, if you sign up as a Huggies Member, you’ll get a cute lil purple bag. The bag was out of stock last nite, so i left my address for them to send it over. There’s no charge to become a member anywayz… huhu.
So happy diaper shopping mommies! Do bring a slightly bigger car if you intend to “borong”… the boxes may be a bit difficult to squeeze into a small car as per Amy’s experience…
aiyoh my fren juz called me to tell me about the huggies ultra @ IKANO…very worth it she says…hope I can go today! but have never tried Huggies ultra b4. Thanks for the feedback sumiyaki,jo & haze very helpful!
For me, given the choice, I would prefer Huggies Dry compare to Mamy Poko(MP). Reason why :
1) MP is more expensive. Imagine my bb use M66 for Mamy Poko, cost me RM42.90 (during promotion), while Huggies Dry L72 RM31.95. Huggies is cheaper, and even though we need to buy 1 size bigger, still the quantity is more than MP
2) Those tiny holes at the back of diaper (meant for ventilation) for MP is causing a problem to me, coz when my bb pass motion, tend to leak out…. However, when I use Huggies Dry, no leaking problem …
Bought huggies at Ikano too but I must say that Mamy Poko is still no one… my son is 6 months and I really appreciate Poo Poo Pocket feature in Mamy Poko… it helps a lot!!! no leakage at all!
Diyana: Yep, we loved the poopoo pocket in MamyPoko diapers too! It worked superbly when my girl was small. But they only have it in the Newborn and Small sizes. The M size onwards have this green padding instead. I dunno bout other moms, but for my daughter, ever since she started wearing M sized MPs her bum tend to get red more often. Not sure if its just pure coincidence or becoz of the diaper coz my daughter does have very sensitive skin… I guess you would have to try it out first and decide coz every baby is different…
Mommie: You’re welcome!
Hahaahha. U guys are really somethin’!!! I was totally influenced by ur wonderful comments here so much so tht I jumped into d bandwagon n bought 7 packs of huggies ultra as well. Went to Ikano last thursday, but there were only sizes M, S, n XXL left if I’m not mistaken. Lucky me tho’, my son wears M. So we ‘borong’ n got d tent. As we r going off for a long holiday next week, I might as well bring the tent along since its flat-packed n I’m sure d children will love playing in it in our hotel room later. Guess everybody wins
Hi Mommies!

Here’s a cool website for you wonderful & price-conscious Moms to check and compare prices of diapers at the stores near you! You can also add and share prices that you find in other stores with all the Moms in Klang Valley.
Happy sharing!
aiyoh!!!! I so sad —after reading all your exciting comments I went to IKANO! To my disappointment….HABIS!!Tak lagi! So sad la.I MSTSAY ITWAS an excellent deal la!
is the Huggies sales @ Ikano still on?
H Jan, no more sale it ended last sunday
It was a good deal though.
Aiyo! I live so near yet I don’t know about this diaper sale. I have bought the red huggies and the blue huggies but I still prefer MP. I don’t have to change often because it can really absorb. It’s pricey but I change my son less often. SO it’s quality vs quantity. I have never bought huggies ultra though:(
Mamy Poko Pants are great. Though a bit more expensive, but I think they are more comfortable for my baby. She used pampers before, and those zap stuffs sometimes cuts to her skin….so Mamy Poko Pants!!!
Pants is so convenient. I switch to Pants when my girl was 1 year old. And Pants is not really that expensive, especially DryPantz. It is same price as Mamy Poko (the normal type not pants)that i used in the past .
wah, i thought i m the one crazy about diapers, since i always buy a lot… how much is the huggies ultra selling at ikano during sale? i went to Giant today and found that the normal huggies dry is selling at RM 47 !!!
Hi phoebe, U missed leh…..the diapers were going at RM20 per pack lor. VERY VEYR cheap….the normal price is about RM42 I think….that’s why so many grab. Somemore gave away free play tent & play mat. Hope got offer like this again.
hi mommie,
thanks for your reply. i am actually from jb. i am crazy about diapers. i always go to giant, carrefour and tesco. but there is no such good deal.. now i found out that the blue color huggies ultra, L 72, pieces has gone up the price from rm 32 to rm 47. so, get it before its too late…
aiyoh so ex already ah….shall we go back to the cloth nappies like before? save so much money hor. How best potty train them huh? That of oucrse would be the best option la.
i bought huggies dry comfort frm giant but the absorbent of the said diapers is reduce compare to the diapers that i bought before
Hi all, tried so many brands before settling with Mamy Poko. My comments…. Pampers is not super absorbent n would leak at times, Huggies dry comfort is good n reasonable priced but my 2nd daughter got rashes using it, Drypers would leak n do not like the sticky sticker, pet pet leaks, and pureen is only suitable for baby below 1mth.
so now… Mamy Poko is the best at the moment for my daughter although its a bit pricey. If you compare the price between giant n tesco, giant would always be cheaper n look out for sales ads in the papers. Mydin also offers good price for mamy poko if giant is not on sale. next week would have places with good prices to shop for mamy poko……..walla…
Huggies Ultra Diapers Offer returns with – RM 26 (no longer RM 19 per pack) I bought some at Jaya Jusco 1 Utama at their Supermarket area just today. (all sizes available still…)
I missed the last offer – was too late and all have been sold!
Dunno if any other mothers face this but…..the HUggies pull ups pants seems to leak quite a fair bit. My son seems to wet his pants more with that. Mamy Poko is leak proof for me so far.
MAMY still the best?
Hmmm i have try both but seem no diffrence but interm of price then i will go for huggies is the sales still on i need to store stock.
Have anyone of u buy huggies from tesco store is it same?
Hi all the mummys want to check with your how do i post a new subject into this web side??? Any 1 can teach me???
I love mamy poko..tapi yala..mahal lo..
http://babyibu.blogspot.com/
I used to use huggies dry but now quality has gone down. I notice old one is with colorful design but new one just blue color. When i called their customer service to complain, they said they’ve just change the design but quality still the same. So, i turn to Pet Pet as it’s cheaper for my 2nd son coz he doesn’t wee wee much. I notice it leaks when is full too. Headache dunno which brand to use now…
I also have problem with my 8 months baby having rashes when start with mamy poko M size.
Have not try huggies ultra coz it’s expensive also and not sure on the quality. Where can find out ikano sale for huggies ultra diaper for next round? Maybe can try out.
Opps, it is slightly out of mamy poko and huggies topic. As the price keep increasing day by day, i just wanna share something to all mums. My fren the one who introduced me on this diapers from overseas. There are few brands that u can choose, the quality is good (some brands as good as MAMY POKO), cute designs, comfortable, high absorptions and price very very reasonable.
For all mums that interested can email me at eirfanmum@yahoo.com to get more details, photos, price and etc…the trail packs also available.
I am so happy now as my little one likes it very much and I also can save a lots. I believe ur little ones will like it too..
The silly cutting behind Mamypoko always make my girl’s POO LEAK OUT behind. The poo poo pocket I think is just a marketing strategy n has no real purpose.
So I SWITCHED TO FITTI. It is cheaper and thinner than Mamypoko but I have no more leaking. Find Fitti not bad at all.
Sometimes there is no use having a thicker one becos once she poos, you have to change anyway.
My elder girl uses PET PET n I find it very good at about RM28 (L) . It’s also not thin. But if this one increase to over RM30, probably switch to Huggies (promo price).
Actually if Huggies only a few dollars higher than Pet Pet i don mind switching becos my girl looks so cute in the smart cutting (n she’s proud of it after heard our pujian).
hey uol..have u heard of ppl selling cheap diapers and claim that it is from oversea..like recently i got to know that they are selling Huggies USA and MamyPoko Grade A from Korea. And it is superbly cheap..But I am not sure whether it is original or not? Anyone knows about this?
i have tried many disposable diapers, i would say the below brands are good i.e.
Japlo (Specialty store only)
Mamy Poko
Huggies
I let my daughter use cloth diapers when she was a baby as this is still the best, do you know that disposable diapers no matter what they said “Breathable”. Luckily my daughter didn’t want to use disposable diaper when she was 2years+ which saves me a lot of money. To me Japlo is good but it’s pricey for me, it’s about RM60+ for a pack. I let my daughter use Drypers for afternoon nap since it’s only like 1 or 2 hours and at night I will put Huggies for her, Huggies is more economical compare to Mamy Poko. I bought only 1 pack (those pull up pants) in 2003 when Mamy Poko had a contest for baby search and my daughter was selected as 10 finalists. I would say both Mamy Poko and Huggies are equally good for disposable diapers… But, if you want to save more on your money do go for Huggies (the red colour packaging), you know sometimes the price is like RM33 then it’s cheap usually promotion will be in hypermarkets like Giant, Tesco and Carrefour. I have let my daughter used other types of disposable diapers like Sealer etc but not as good. Let me know if you need more advice and thoughts.
Oops i happened to see someone wrote Pet Pet is good, emmm not to me, anyway for day like 1 or 2 hours Drypers is already good enough as it’s economical and good too.
I try both product , mamypoko i try it as it is a gift from my wife collegue..but i alway leak and leave some rashes…so we stop using it..
As for Huggies , we use Ultra for night and Dry comfort for day use..
I notice recently Dry comfort is selling in differenyt packet and it is going crazy fast..as for Ultra is even more cheaper then MamyPoko too..
Is there any sales around for Huggies right now ?
giant was selling in bulk huggies diapers but i can’t remember the price, i saw somewhere in the papers whether tesco or carrefour were also having huggies for very affordable price like rm33 per packet. do check it out.
my twin kids use Fitti. Got this remedy from my mother in law, if your kid suffering from rashes, just put Hazeline-snow moisturiser on to them. Really works and i’ve used HS for all my kids (all 7). Also good if u have sore feet (from new shoes)
Great effort to put them altogether.
my baby is using mamy poko since day 1. and my baby’s skin loves it. one time, i used huggies and my baby had rashes on her waist and thigh. since then, my hubby and I decided to use mamy poko. its quite expensive but it is worth the price.
i just came back from window shopping @ midvalley… jusco is selling MP NB52 @ rm39.90. there’ll be a sale in sogo n the price will be only rm30.50 next saturday…. so to all expecting mommies… jom borong…
