Sent my maid back for a holiday back to Indonesia last month for a Raya break…..we breathed a sigh of relief when we saw her again at the airport 2 weeks later. We were really glad she came back. Glad cos she isgood help. It has been 1 month since she returned and we recently found out that she is pregnant! AIYO!! what should we do now? Any ideas & tips?
I dun look forward to having to go through the entire process again of hiring a new one & Orientating her……..SIGH
1) Send her back to her country
2) let her work till she is 7month
3) Any good agencies to recommend?
what? how? I just renewed her work permit! sigh sigh…..

Geee, that must be a real hard decision to make. It is never easy to get a good and trustable maid. Good Luck..
Contact the agency, they’ll know what to do. They probably have plenty of problems like this around to handle.
Hi, i have similar problem too last time. This seems to be a tactic of them to want to return home right after they come back from their home country. Maybe the regretted that they extended the agreement.
You may want to confirm that she is really pregnant by asking her to do a test in your precense. Vomit and tired all the time can be easilly faked. Be careful.
If she is really pregnant. Then you may want to contact your agent for the best advice.
thanks for all your feed back. I did the urine test together with her. This really confirms her pregnancy. Sigh…..I feeel cheated la. Also feel for the maid also la cos her life is in quite a mess. Agency said to just send her back. Is it true that we need to deport them? hmmmm…next time maids go home for holiday give them a box of condoms to go!
You have to send her back. The contract says so. Have a read. Even if it doesn’t, it’s only best for you to send her back. You don’t want to be plagued with her medical problems if she’s not having a smooth pregnancy. I’ve encountered this problem twice and I sent them back. When the second maid got pregnant after 1.5 years, I tried to wait until she ended her contract. But I ended up taking her to the gynae for a few visits because she had bleeding.
Oh thanks for our advice Lin. Does anyone have maid agency contacts to recommend? So far I called a few and all got no INdon bio. Only got Cambodian…pretty ex hor RM700 per month
Im currently getting mine from http://www.nation.com.sg/Malaysia/search_newmaid.htm
They have a few outlet. Do check out from their website.
Father here not mom….
better choose option 1, if not you become her maid…
Last few years, with help from relative that always go to Indonesia, me and my brother-in-law do everything ourselves to get a maid. Even before really hired her, my relative ask the maid to come over for 1 month using visitor passport to his house for a trial run. I even drive to jeti at Johor to pick her up. total cost only RM2700 + RM400 per month.
After 1 year we decide to let her go but until now, she still contact my family. I heard she will come to visit us soon.
Right now it really hard for me to do it again as my relative pass away last month. I not sure whether his wife still hire his ‘cun’ maid.
suggest to send her back.
I think she already plan it.
I’m also trouble in maid.
finding the good maid to take care kids is not easy.
anyone can recommend?
U think she planned it joanne? sigh….it’s a headache la. Now still looking for options. Yeah plan to send her back. NOw is 3 months waiting period
sorry 3 months to get the maid here. Also shortage of Indon ones. A fren from Indon said they themselves facing shortage of maids in Indon…..can U believe that? All the indon maids are going to Spore,Taiwan,Hong Kong…..will we be in trouble next time? sigh
Deport her home….god knows, what happened next! …. get a new one. Btw, my sis doing this maid thingy.. i`ll ask her if u like..
p/s: We are dealing with Grade F female domestic helper… there are other option u know, flipinos which cost u nearly 700 monthly… alah, can talk english a lil bit. No biggies.
I am also waiting for a new maid. Cambodian this time. My 3rd maid already but no choice coz second BB due in 4 weeks. Sometimes really wish I had the option of not working.. but times are bad…Taking more than 2 months and its now RM590 per month. They are quite ok and running away chances are lesser but VERY VERY stubborn. So, juz gotta “tahan” a bit larr. My first cambo maid lasted for 9 months and i sent her home coz she is always lying and get too lazy. 2nd maid I kena “conned” from HAZ (opposite Carrefour, Subang Jaya) That maid got mental problems and after 4 months they taught her to run away and make me waste about RM6000. So, I am extra careful nowadays. I actually had to sue them in Consumer Tribunal and when I went there, found out that there were so many other cases agaist them. So what ?? they are still in business… thats our life I guess… always at the mercy or teruk agencies who only care about their own pocket. Dont care if they maid can work or not. Many of my friends and even neighbour “kena” from HAZ already. Just a warning for all mums and parents out there. !!
mummybugz, because the money is out of your pocket goes to their pocket and ‘others’ pocket.
mummybugz, thanks for the info.
MelLin, Filipinos only cost RM700? I think the price is ok, as the cost for Indon now is RM600. Can you send me the contact for your sis’s company. I would like to find out more.
Thanks in advance.
MelLin, can I also have your contact??? Tahnks alot
I also have experienced with maid agencies … melayang a few thounsand few times. After than, I get maid from person that dealing with Indon agency … but have to apply permit by myself. Not too bad, only 2 times went to imigration. Only pay RM2400 and can deduct 3 months maid’s salary. Monthly salary is RM400. Ok what to take care of 4 kids.
Liana, you have make a good choice. Save money and time. Actually time taken to go immigration is nothing actually cos you still need to go to agency. No different. That not included time taken to go to agency and complaint if maid run away.
Got what I mean…
LIana, how do I go about doing that ah? Can U show me? Or give me contact…I only have 3months to find one b4 mine go back…
REading this forum really scared me, but i do hope i did the correct & godo planning…
My fren told me her maid preggie after she came back from indo too. So knowing my maid going back next mth, i bring her for the DEPO CONTRACEPTIVE INJECTION last week, only cost me RM65 all togther.. and it will alst for 3 mths… She will came back 2 weeks before the expiry date of the injection..
Hope all this planning is in order.. and no other issue came out besides this preggie issue…
really very ma fan, when u know they are nice person too ( i mean my maid is really good and helpful) but at the same time, u can control urself to think that they themselves are lack of planning for their own life and sometimes dunno what they themselves doing.. very headache to hire maid.
hi… she wanted to keep the baby ? u mean she interested to keep the baby ??? sorry asking like this.. becoz it’s a option too if she dun want the baby herself since she’s in a family mess issue….
may be should let her go back indo and think about it ? or let her go back settle her problem.. and she MIGHT COME BACK after she settle her problem ?
To settle the problem probably take 1 year so this option will make you looking for new maid also.
just send her home lo..haedache
btw i have agency can arrange maid come here with total cos of rm 3000 + 400 monthly salary only (no deduction)..but u must have Indonesia maid contact there and willing to come down..and u too have to arrange to Imigration to arrange for ducuments (cos the agent only arrange ur maid Indo doc upto Port klang) then pick her from there…
so anyone interested pls write down here..i wil contact u then..(dont worry this safe n legal, cos my maid too thru same procedure)
My replacement maid went crazy on her 7th day working in my home. She started singing, banging her head, biting and strangling herself, etc so I immediately send her back to agency. Agency insists I take her back but it is too risky/dangerous. Doubt I can get a full refund. First maid was sickly. Can I have the contact of your maid agency mentioned in this forum. I would have to like to apply for a new maid. Thanks.
marymy, can we have the contact for maid pls? Thanks….I desperately need one la
Liana, can I have also your contact or how can I communicate with U? thanks
I have had 5 maids, each one lasted 2 years after completing their contracts. Once they go back, even if for just a short holiday, I won’t take them back, as advised by my agent whom I trust. So far, so good. All my maids were helpful and trustworthy. I believe if we treat them well, they in turn will treat us well though for the first month, I would actually not be too nice to them, lest they take us for granted. The first day at work, sit them down and discuss expectations (from both sides), that really helps ^_^ No complaints so far, even my mum who is very skeptical of maids. My agency : Princeton at KL Plaza, ask for Christina. Good luck …
hi..mm..
my agent he need u to get a maid contact from indon first then only he will arrange for her to come down..
i mean your ex maid, relative or fren of current maid…any contact from Indonisia..etc..
if u need a fully arranged maid from him it normally quite hard cas cant find maid there n need to wait also..
i need yr maid ’s baby. ask her if she want to give away and cont working
i mean if she is a good maid.. u should keep her and give away her baby.im 42 and i was married before with no kid. pls reply to me soon
Hi Liana, possible to give me the contact person to get the maid?
Thanks
Reading all your stories is like dejavu for me. I too used to have all these problems. Problems solved after terminating maids. Now I am back at work again after a 10year lapse and without a maid. I am happier.
Hi Liana,
i need ur help also… pls contact me! tq
Dear All,
After reading all your comments, I think I’m blessed to have such a good maid. My 1st maid worked with me for 7 and half years and she went back coz she want to get married. The current one has been 4 months, she also good and I think as time goes by, she will be as good as the former maid. For me the concept is like this..we have to treat our maid as human being..like us too. Give them some rest when they need one and don’t be too stingy to reward them with gift as a token of appreciation because they treat and take care of our children dilligenty.
kindly contact us , we have a ready maids. muslim. and working experience. and some biodata which is complete with passport and all the document ready. take 3-4week , malaysia sumbittion, can get one new maids.
kindly drop me a email. at : aqcannes@yahoo.com i will send the biodata to you. thanks

Hi, anyone fancy mandarin speaking maids from Vietnam?

sourcearticle.info has a similiar post if anyone’s interested
Liana, can I pls get your contact number? I wld like to ask U some questions on your contacts for Indon maids….thanks.
I have a cambodian maid for almost 6 months.. I m a very calm & full of patience kinda person after she came… i just lost it! These cambodian maids, they like to lie a lot, very lazy and will never admit that they are wrong! They like to sleep a lot too! Cleaning done very fast but very dusty… my hubby is allergic to dust so since we got this maid he keep sneezing non stop! Also they are dirty in the sense they wash your plates and clean with the same cloth… they don’t care at all.. to dry the chopping board she leaves it on top of a dustbin outside the house. They eat a lot… my rice of 40kg finish by her in 1 month! She is getting paid RM640 per month… we went to this maid agency Philimore coz they claim they have ISO so good maids n now when call them, they cannot replace any maid. Everytime have to ask maid to do something to remind her atleast 10 times. All she is trained to say is “I Cannot” “I Dunno” “I forgot” “I sorry” also when see other maids she complains a lot that she doesn’t like to sweep, wash plates, wash car, bath dogs, clean house… so what can she do? My hubby & I are working and we have a 16 year old and we are not difficult people and have given her many chances but at the end.. they are just lazy… My 16 year old has to go to school at 7:30pm, the maid wakes up at 7am or 7:15am coz cannot wake up.. i drive my 16 year to school.. come back 45 mins later… she claims she has clean the whole house… she starts cooking for herself at 10am to eat lunch at 11-12pm, goes and take nap at 2pm-4pm then wakes up n start preparing her dinner at 4:30pm..eat at 5-5:30pm then bath and sleep between 6-7pm no later than 8pm… now don’t u think that maids are expats for us. They stay for free, eat for free, everything like shampoo, soap also free n they still take pay for doing nothing! Until today for almost 6 months i still have to remind her to do laundry every week & even better we have a washing machine & dryer! At the moment we do not know how to deal with the agency… they say they can’t do anything except train her and give counselling… my other friends say it won’t work! They refuse to replace a maid for us. We really can’t stand the lies!!
i have a indon maid for 2yrs ++ and this year was her 3rd year as i just renew her visa after she went back for holiday. She return on Nov 3 but after 2 months her heart gone again. she is so forgeting, no heart to work so i know i have to get new maid until her visa expired this year november. My agent is Haz subang jaya too and i did not know they have so much complaint until i read this forum, now i think i am not going to get new maid from them as they are very expensive. i like the idea that get maid from indonesia and apply work permit on our on. can anyone share about the terms and condition to apply work permit for maid on our own without going thru agency and also is anyone have good contact to get a maid over to malaysia from indonesia? thanks for all sharing.
Kimi, if u can get your own maid/candidate from indonesia, i can help process your case…let me have your email addres…if u r interested. Thx
Dear RT,
Thank you very much. Can I have your email so i can write to you further.
Kimi – mei.rhia@yahoo.com
JL,hope you wouldnt mind me asking– why doesnt the maid agency replace a maid for you since it should be stated in the contract that they would have to replace the maid if the employer feels that she is not suitable and furthermore they have ISO
MelLin, my maid agency says Filipinos are now RM1400, can your sis still get Filipinos for RM700?
Gosh, send her back pronto!
As an employer, we have to treat them like employees, that’s the strategy my family took. We had 3 maids within the last 10 yrs. All of them are OK. As for personalities, I believe that if they’re religious, they’ll be more disciplined, which is why we always go for the older ones. My current neng is so good she took care of my mum when she was hospitalized. And she wakes up at 5 am daily too. My mum let her handle simple responsibilities for some time before upgrading her to the cooking/cleaning chores. We also let her sees the amount in her names, and no ATM card for her. We deduct her advances from her salary and we give her second astro decoder (since she likes all the Indo shows). Also, as she’s your employee first, never let her know your finance, your jewelery and your cash. Temptation is bad for anyone.
We got her from a family friend, and she was not under any agency. She was previously a kitchen helper. We paid around rm4K for her, and Im so happy that we made our decision based on her personality instead of age/looks/education.
Lee, they said that since it is already 6 months they are unable to replace the maid and even if we wanted a replacement maid, they do not have any available. I do not know whether it is true that you can only replace the maid within 3 months.
Lee, they also said that they can only offer to take back the maid for counseling and re-train her again and send her back to us. But I personally think that it would not help at all since it’s got to do with the attitude. My friends that has send their maids back for counseling said that it didn’t work.
JL,whether you can get a replacement or not depends on the contract that you have signed. If it is stated that replacement can only be made within the first three months then the agency have the right not to give you a replacement since your maid has been here for almost six months now. So you should check your contract. As for my present agency, they will provide a replacement until the sixth month.
JL,most cambodians are by nature quite dirty as back in their country, the floors of their houses are but only soil which doesn’t need much of any sweeping and doesn’t need moping at all. In some houses chicken droppings litter their floor and yet they walk barefooted on the droppings. And most of them do not even have toilets in their houses. So they are used to being dirty. So insist that she follows your way.
JL,btw can you please tell me how long did Philimore agency take to bring your cambodian maid in, as my present agency can take as long as six months to get their cambodian maids in. Wishing you all the best.
Lee, i can get Vietnamese maid for RM750 salary per month…in case u r interested. Trained to communicate in Mandarin.
RT, so far I’ve had experience with Indo, Camb, and Philipino maids only and I find that Camb. are more willing to follow instructions as compare to the other two. How would you compare vietnamese to the other three.
Lee, in my opinion, i would say don’t expect 100% obedience from maids as we are dealing with human beings with emotions…so i would say it takes 2 to clap hands. To make a maid to serve us better, guessed we have to give and take and have loads of patience. I have experienced with Indon and Cambodian maids and I’m have dealt with Vietnamese workers…there’s no guarantees which country produces the best maids…however our expectations and understanding to them will make them more so called ‘obedient’ to our whims or demands. As it’s all on individual basis, at times we get very good maids but sometimes bad luck we get a lousy one , doesn’t matter where they come from.We just pray we get maids who do not harm us only. Vietnamese maids provides us another alternate choice to those who had many unfortunate experiences with Indon or other nationality maids.
hi, i heard fm my friend that nowadays you can get a maid directly from indonesia without going through agency & it’s much more cheaper. i’m actually considering to get a maid. can anyone give me the contact if you have any??
RT,I think I’ll rather stick to either Cambodians or Philipinos. Thanks anyway.
Cindy, that what I say since last November. My brother get the maid by himself. I just paid half of the expenses because we share.
Dingh, I saw your post in Nov 08. Wow, that’s cheap, though! Just pay RM 2700 + RM 400, I can get a maid. Do you still have the contact? Can you please share more? Thks!
Cindy, the sad story is, my relative who always go to Indon already pass away. All documents kept by my brother-in-law.
A guide in this page would help a bit.

Have anyone of U heard of ELITE agency? Well I just hrd that they are lousy! Take your payment & after that can’t deliver the maid…….beware of this agency
Dear All, my pregnant maid of 5 1/2 months is finally heading back to INDON….I am trying to get ready to train the new one….pray & hope she is better than the old one la…..will updates….
Dear loosing maid, wishing you all the best with your new maid. Btw do you mind letting me know which agency you are using to get this new maid in?
Dear Dingh, thank you for sharing that well laid out procedure to get a maid d.i.y. Am just wondering for those of us who don’t want to go to maid agency (coz mahal) neither nak do the legwork sendiri (we are not in KL, fear of incomprehensible forms, getting lost in Immigration Office, getting entangled while trying to navigate the corridors of bureaucracy etc.) ada tak “runner” or “freelancer” who provide such legwork?
cycy, if u don’t mind which part mysia are u in? do u have the maid waiting in Indon for u already?
i have maid work with me for nearly 5 yrs. The pasport will expire in june. Every 2 yrs i send her back for holiday but unfortunately last year when she went home she is getting marrid with her boyfriend who is living at the kongsi near my house. She is good with my 6 yrs old boy and 4 yrs old girl. Last week i found that maybe she is getting pragnent. My husband & i know her husband and when she want to go out she will ask my permission. After a discussion with her husband, i decide to renew his contract since my kids is very close to her. I will let her to take her child. What i concern is people to take care my kids since my working schedule is not fix. Do you think i’m doing a wright thing. My friends always tell me that i treat her more than normal.
I am so shocked to her all these, especially about Haz as I just got a maid from them (not the one in Subang but in Ampang but I guess they are all the same). The first maid I got from them was Cambodian – she was terrible. Every time my mother-in-law told her to do something, she either said, “No, no, no,” or she would make faces. Like JL said, she behaved more like a tourist than a maid. She watched television, played with my daughter’s toys and ate sooooooo much!
We couldn’t take it anymore so we changed to an Indonesian maid that someone else had rejected. We had to pay RM1,800+ for that. The new maid is better but we gradually found out more and more problems about her. For example, she is blind in one eye and she has night blindness. She is also a little deaf and she sometimes talks to herself. After hearing what JL said, I’m quite worried that Haz might also have taught her to run away!
What should I do now?
I’m would like to get a maid. that mention for Philipino RM700 or vietnam. anyone got any biodata? for indo, i may consider as well, get from agency or ourself better? anyone can guide me? if agency, which agency? if ourself, what is the procedures?

Pls email me if any, littleprincess9098@gmail.com
OMFG you have to clean after urself, such a damn shame.
My new Cambodian maid will be arriving tis Saturday. This is the 1st time, I’m hiring a Cambodian. Heard so many bad stories ab them. Am worry to death. Can anyone give me some advice how to handle them?
HI ann,
I am using my 2nd cambo so far… so good but she’s really blurr sotong so sometimes i have to be really firm with her.. and she gets the occasional scolding from me lar.
The good thing about cambo is that they are not so prone to running away (not like those idiotic indons) but language is a BIG problem.
So, from the first day, you MUST show them how you want things to be done.. eg: you must show them how to sweep, or hold the broom or squeeze the mop. go back to basics. maybe you must “suffer” for about one month larr..
cambos are also quite stubborn. eg: after you tell them to do something, they will nod their head but most probably she don’t really understand or she will not listen to you. My experience with them is as long as the house is 70-80% clean and the kids are happy, I am quite satisfied liau ! Good luck !!
My maid said she wanted to leave. So I sent her back to the agency. The next day our friend wanted to come back. I have been thinking long and hard…she is not a bad person just pretty lazy and tells little lies here and there. I can’t find help and I’m up to my eyebrow in work. Was just wondering what are the chances of her harming my family if I take her back. Need some comments.Pronto.She was with me 87 days.
i agree that we can’t expect our maid to be super clean or super good, we have to put ourselves in their shoes, most of us malaysians will make our maid work from like 6:00am right till 8:00pm (if they are lucky), some will make their maid clean their own house then bring their maid to their parents/in-law’s house and make them work again. imagine, they are after all human, i am very sure non of us wants to become a maid, most of them had no choice as they came from poor country. i noticed the indonesian maids are much dirtier than philipino i guess it’s their brought up and culture, we are talking about maids and most of them came from poor family, some did not even attend school etc, etc, they would be more than happy if they have enough food, clothing and shelter let alone look into cleanliness. we have to close one eye, you are lucky to be able to get one who is by nature hardworking and if you are able to train one hardworking one, but to be honest just dont have too much expectations. i noticed some family will ill-treat the maid like whole day screaming etc, i wonder why these people want to continue doing this as it will only stress up ourselves isn’t it? and your high blood might just go up getting angry over a maid. you know these days lots of maid can do something to you, like for instance, my friend told me her neighbour’s maid left them and came back, told them that all these while she has been putting her used sanitary pad into the soup that they drink, the water that she used to wash her leg is also add into the water that they drink at home and she told them that she added dish detergent into their food too, so imagine? i am not asking to treat them super nice just do the needful and try as much as possible do not raise our voice as they can harm us without our knowledge you see…
Today the live-in domestic worker is found talking on her mobile phone while cutting vegetables. When I haven’t enter the house, her loud talking voice could be heard from outside the house. This was tolerated by the 2 elderly at home. Does any of you think she is getting way too far?
hi mrs n, maids love to talk on the phones i would say more for indonesians (this will be the case when they start having mobile phones). i tried to think why they love to chat on the phone well we also love to chat with our friends but maybe not to the extend of hours and hours. well i think it’s them they just love to chat (whether or not they have work to do) but we try to understand as they are away from their family members esp. some away from their kids, husband and friends so the only way to connect with them is by talking on the phone. i suggest you to speak nicely to her that she can talk on the phone but only at night like 8pm till 8:30pm for example and not during day time. as long as there are someone at home to look after the maid is not too bad, and most of the maids are very smart they know who is their employer, for your case, they know the 2 elderly persons are not the one who pay her wages you get me? so they just have the attitute “can’t be bother”.
i had an ex-colleague his indonesian maid called her friends to come to his house with lorry to remove all the expensive things when he went with his family back to his wife’s home town. they took his wife’s jewelleries, cash, all his hard liquor, tv, etc etc but finally the police managed to catch them, i didn’t ask whether he manage to retrieve the things that were lost…. you see neighbours will not ask as they thought it was renovation etc, etc…. so just be very careful when we have a stranger at home.
Dearest blossom, how do you think we should handle a maid who after doing her work, yet there will still be rubbish on the floor, my children’s feet will turn black, mugs, saucepan, tupperware container and also other kitchen items will be smelly, there’ll be worm in vegetable dishes , whatever money that is left by my children inside their clothes get washed along with the clothes in the washing machine, kitchen cloth turns black and dirty, rice sticking everywhere on the kitchen table and so much more. And despite telling her that she should do her work properly she is not bothered at all. So at times I do understand why people will resort to scolding maid when maids couldn’t care less if you tell them nicely.
hi lee, sorry to hear about your maid. how long has this maid of yours been working for you? if she has been working for you for years, is she always like that or just recently? if she’s new, does she understands what you were trying to teach her, did you showed it to her for example how to sweep the floor, how to wash the bowls etc, etc?
hi blossom, thanks for your concern, she has been with me for the past one year and four months and she was like that from the very beginning, and yes I showed her how to do the work but she will still be the same and the worst thing is that she doesn’t like people complaining about her work so out of no choice I forced both my eldest children to help out with the moping, wiping and washing as my house has to be kept clean due to the reason that my youngest son has asthma and is severely allergic to house dust mites, anyway I have already applied for a new maid and will be sending her back once the new maid arrives but just worried that I might get another one just like her and really need some advice on how to handle this type of maid.
Hi Lee, I am very sorry to hear about your bad experience, I fully understand your life must be in dilemma. I also feel pitiful for your kids. I sincerely hope your new maid will be much better than this one. I don’t know how to choose a maid but my aunt (through her experience) will choose maid with big hands (as in the fingers are big, rough as this would mean they have been doing lots of housework and not those with nice hands). I sincerely hope this helps. Is your maid an Indonesian? Well, we must be stern with our maids but need not scold them as I said they might harm us without our knowledge and we would suffer quietly thinking when they would harm us, how are they going to harm us etc and it’s giving us silence pressure, we employ maid not to make us suffer but to help us. If she said she has done this, check on the things whether she tells lies. Generally in the house there should be at least one person that she is cautious off. Maids in general will climb onto our head when we treat them too nice, well just do the needful and don’t have to treat them especially bad or nice.
Hi blossom, my maid is a Cambodian. Anyway thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it.
Hi all. My wife & I (we have a 2-year old) got a maid from Philimore Agency in Old Klang Road in Feb 2009 about 7 weeks after we applied. She wasn’t great but OK I guess. 3 mths & 5 days after she started work, she absconded with my h/p (switched off, with pin protection) & some coins (about RM5). Also disabled my house phone & took some other stuff as well while leaving some of her belongings behind. I spoke to a neighbor whose maid also ran away (after 3 mths & 3 days) – yes you guessed it, also from Philimore !! Agenncy agreed to replace neighbors maid but have not yet – has been more than 4 mths! When i met them & made noise they agreed to replace maid but asked me to pay 1000+ & they will transfer the remaining maid’s loan amount to the new maid. They also wanted RM250 for the security bond (Immigration) & also the original passport. I wonder if any of you of others like me who have dealt with Philimore before. I syuspect something is amiss. Please help advise. Thank you.
is there any way you could contact help from immigration? sorry, i think something amiss with this agency from what you have described here.
i recently had avery bad experience from this particular agency off Old Klang Road, near Pearl hotel. The particular maid was recommended to me by the agency. she was found to be t least 48 yo instead of 36 stated on her passport, she had high blood pressure and arthritis in her knees ( so bad she could squat and had problem climbing stairs ) The agency brushed off any responsibility on their part. I lost all my agency fees RM4500. To replace I were required to pay another RM1785 while having to wait without any maid till the replacement came which could take from 2-3 months to indefinite. It is always win-win for agencies, and as employers we are at their mercy.
I had a similar experience with Haz Agency in Ampang. The first maid was Cambodian. Her passport said she was 21 but she looked like 13 (she still had the chubby cheeks of a child). Her biodata said she was first in the family but she told us that she had 2 elder sisters and one elder brother. Whenever we asked her to do something, she would make the “tsk” sound. She was like a piece of wood in terms of work. We asked her to take my daughter to the playground and she just stood there and watched my 2-year-old get knocked down by someone swinging high on a swing. She didn’t move a muscle and there was no expression on her face when my daughter got hurt. For my girl’s safety, we decided to send her back.
The agency gave us an Indonesian maid as a replacement for which I had to pay close to 2k. At first, the replacement seemed okay. Later, we realized that she was blind in one eye (the other eye is good only in the daytime), she was a little deaf (she couldn’t hear food bubbling loudly, boiling over and sizzling all over the stove), one of her arms wasn’t functioning properly (she couldn’t carry semi-heavy things or wring clothes dry) and she was often ill. We had to do most of the work for her because she couldn’t manage. Surprisingly, last week, she ran away. I contacted the agency and they asked for more agency fee for a new maid! I told them I would be going to another agency for my new maid but they didn’t seem too perturbed.
I probably got cheated in one way or another but now I do not have time or energy to think about it. I’ve had to take two weeks off work because there’s no one to take care of my girl. Next week, I will be sending her to school full-time, getting a part-time cleaner and a caterer. So much money wasted but I cannot take anymore time off work – my income is much needed by the family. Things will to be tough until my new maid arrives (and then who knows?). The best thing for me now, I figured, is just to look forward.
I just wanted to warn anyone who may be thinking of using Haz Agency in Ampang – DON’T!
Hi all, i’m planning to hire combodian or vietnam maid, i never hire maid before. i would like to get some advices from all of you should i hire combodian or vietnam maid??? after reading all the problem all of you facing i’m abit worry but i got no choice to hire maid. the main reason i hire maid is to take care my bb as my current nanny can’t help me to take care my bb anymore bcos her maid is going back to indo in 2 weeks time and her new maid only will come in by September. i plan to hire maid n put in my nanny place so that she can help me oversee my maid at the same time she oso can help me to take care my bb.
anyone know any reliable agency??? i saw from news papers this agency call philimore they advitise gauranteed no runaway and english speaking for combodian maid, do you think can trust???
Please help me i really need a maid urgently!!!
Does anyone know where I can get a temp maid or a nanny?
Dear Siti, how long you need the temp maid? What is your expectation from her?
Hi, i’m planning to hire maid but still not sure whether sure i hire philipino maid or combodian maid. anyone know whether philimore reliable??? did anyone hear of Ryuji agency??? or anyone know any reliable agency???
A fren of mine introduc me a agency, where they only supply philipino maid where their salary is RM850 per month (no off day) but this morning another fren of mine told me that if RM850 a month which mean they are on dark side so i have to make sure to the maid sign an agreement state that she agree with RM850 salary.
now i’m so confusing, whether should i hire philipino maid or combodia?? i saw news paper philimore advertise combodian maid guaranteed no runaway & english speaking.
The main reason i hire maid is to take care my son, as my nanny can’t be able to take care for me since last 2 weeks, and i been trying to find nanny since 1 month ago but still i can’t get it.
anyone can help me???
hi, i wanted to hire a philipino maid too. but, was not successful because i found out that, even the agreed salary is RM850, but, in the event if the maid report to the embassy, we will have to pay them the minimum salary which is RM1400. so, unless u r ready to pay them RM1400 (worst case scenerio), u may want to think twice.
anyone else know more?
Oswald Mommy,
I have been getting all my maids from Phililmore…..they are pretty ok la. This is my 3rd maid from this agency. Pretty good service la. They say they are ISO standard. But U make sure U take note of the renewals of permits, Passport of maid on your own…dun rely on the agency to remind U. If they dun….KENA big time!
mm,
Are the three maids from philimore well trained in the sense that do they know how to do all the basic household chores when they first arrived at your house? I’ve heard from a maid agency in subang jaya that philimore maids are not trained and as such does not know how to do any householdchores at all when they first arrive. Just wondering if there is any truth at all in what the agency in subang jaya says.
Oswald Mommy,
From my experiences with a few cambodian maids I can say that cambodian maids do not run away but they will quit if they do not like the work and you would have to be ready for language barrier as most of them know and understand very little of the English language as such they will not be able to understand your instructions.
Hi mm & lee… thanks for your comments on my request… i have deicided to hire philipino maid… hopefully can get it between 2 weeks time. but now i got another problem is, i don’t know how to train my maid..
Another question i would like to ask is, should i take experience maid where they have done it in dubai and with the age of 39 years old or i should choose a maid that never done it before but got experience taking baby as she got 2 child (no sure how old yet) but she has divorce with the husband and age 28 years old only. My agency told me philipinos divorce with thier husband is very normal, and a lot of them is single mother.
Do you think i should i hire the expenrience maid or should i hire freshest?? I haven’t confirm my agent which maid i want..
Hi Oswald Mommy,
All my maids were employed for the purpose of housekeeping and cooking only. They are not required to take care of my kids as such if your main purpose of getting a maid is to take care of your baby I am not sure whether experience maid or fresh maid will be better. Anyway I always hire fresh maid as she can be trained to follow my ways of doing the chores but training a fresh maid could be tough and time consuming. Whereas experience maid is easier to train as she already knows how to do the chores but she would have her set ways of doing things and might be reluctant to follow your ways to do chores. Anyway wishing you all the best.
Hi Lee,
Thanks for you comment. I have selected my maid, the 2 option i told you i didn’t choose due to my agent try to call the 28yrs old girl (where i wanted to hire) but she didn’t pick up call since last friday, and my agent told me there is another girl where is my fren maid sister, this maid suppose choosen by my fren brother but end up he don’t want because he said the girl work in shopping complex b4. So end up i choose her n my hubby manage to talk to her over the phone, and she will be coming this saturday.
Now i got another problem where i don’t know how to train her, should i come out with a time table for her??
Hi Oswald Mommy,
You’re welcome. I always make time table for my maids so that after the initial training she will be able to work independently following the time table. The initial training would require you to show her how to do all the chores ie sweeping, moping, wiping, washing dishes,
washing toilet, wiping windows and whatever else that you want her to do. By the way your agency is really efficient as they can bring in the maid in less than a month. Do you mind telling me which agency you used?
omg my maid is also pregnant and now am deciding to get a combodian maid. Are combodian maid better than indo maids. Kindly let me know so that i can decide which to employ. tks
Am thinking of vietnamese maids because can’t get indons at the moment. anyone have any experience with viet maids ? with experience their pay is 750 per month.
Hi,
I’ve recently just got my Cambodian maid after waiting for 6 months plus, the purpose is to take care of my new born baby, however initial plan was that we’re expecting the maid to arrive 3 months after application just right to take care the baby, however as it turns out it takes 6 months plus which forced us to find a baby sitter instead for the purpose, now with the maid arrived we’ve observed she is obedient and able to do common house work as long as you show her what you like her to do using sign language etc, even during idle time she is self initiative enough to find chores to do such as sweep & mob floor, collecting dried cloths and sort it and keep it nicely, she also like kids, she’s picking up english and mandarin words on daily basis while taking instruction from us & by watching how we talk to our family members.
So I would says she’s learning & is fairly good in terms of doing housework as long as you let them know your expectation, good thing is they don’t know anybody else here not like indon maid where they’re quite sought after by any Indon men which caused all this runaway cases, with the high cost of hiring new maid and re-pay the same cost again once they’ve runaway it’s worth the training effort for an Cambodian maid.
Language wise I’ve seen 1 good example of Cambodian maid who’re able to converse very well in english after train by employer, this apply to whatever language if you’ve the patient to teach them.
Unfortunately due to the need no longer there for having such maid I’m looking to find another employer for her, anyone interested pls contact Mr. Loh at 012-6515343, this is a readily available maid which can meet your urgent need for domestic helper, of cos as she is new and young(21 yrs old) and requires some training and adaptation to local culture, so far based on my short observation is she’s hard working and able to do daily chores as briefed to her via another Cambodian translator, however different employer different expectation so new employer may need to ask translator from maid agency to re-brief her on what’s your expectation.
Cost wise I’m willing to let go as long as I recover my maid agency fee which is quite standard everywhere, plus I’m willing to do 50/50 on the maid transfer fee of $1200 which according to the agent it’s government law for new employer to re-apply her work permit and misc immigration levi etc.
I am totally dissapointed with Philimoreagency on their service and the maid’s quality that they supplied
I am totally dissapointed with Philimore agency on their service and the maid’s quality that they supplied.
I got an indon maid from this agency PHILIMORE 4 mths ago. The reason of getting a maid is to take care of my 2 yrs old daughter and my new born baby boy. Ever since this maid came into my family, my house became insects’s nest!! Worse is that my daughter suffered Urinary Tract Infection and has to be on antibiotics. Imagine a girl at the age of 2 has to be on antibiotics and i’ve spent almost 1K in SJMC just to cure her!!! She has to went through urine test and ultrasound which makes her all stress up. Reason is the maid left my daughter’s stool in her pampers without changing immediately and dont even wash it away with soap!! I also found out my daughter’s clothes are full with detergent when my maid hung it outside my house for drying!! During my confinement on Nov, my daughter and I suffered food poisoning (we didn’t eat out and all our food was prepared by the maid) but my maid was alright. I even found out my baby’s pacifier contain the maid’s mucus from her nose!! Its so horrible and my daughter’s milk bottle’s teats are full with milk stains!! After all this incident i confronted my maid and the next day my maid told me she wants to back to indon and ask me to send her back indon directly. I said No and i can only send you back to agency if you refuses to work with me. After sending my maid back to agency, this PHILIMORE people dont even borther to advise me what to do and kept me waiting for 3 weeks without settling my problems. when i called up and even stood in their office, also they could’t bother to help solve my case. I got so frustrated and i called up their manager. What gets me more frustrated is that i am not able to get any refund if i would like to terminate my contract and if want a replacement i would have to bear another 1500 more. The manager even speeks unpolitely and said that i am uneducated!!! What kind of service is that??? I’ve paid 9200 just to get this maid and guess what, i just recently found out that the maid i am having was a rejected maid and they charge me new maids fees!!!! SO called themself ISO standards??? I doubt so. Now without my permission the agency has send my maid to another employer. How can do they all this thing without getting my concern and my name under this maid is still with Imigration Office. The maid’s passport is till with me, my case no settlement yet they can proceed to other employer to hire my maid!!! I hope those who like to employ maids, pls never proceed with PHILIMORE or you’ll REGRET for the rest of your life!!!
Hi all, there’s this agency in Desa Hartamas that’s quite good.i’ve been using them for my previous maids. Though some of them do give problems and end up getting sent back because I’m not happy with them. But it is the company’s service that makes me stay with them. They will try their best to help you..like look out for temp maids that you can perhaps try and see if she’s suitable. or be more selective over future biodatas..well, at least they try their best! worth to give it a try…but at the moment, they do not have indonesian biodatas. they do have cambodian and filipino biodatas i think. hope this helps! =)
Hi All,
I am looking for a maid at the moment to replace my Cambodian maid. I was hoping that I can find one which I do not need to go through an agency as I am quite fed-up with the last one I had which was Philimore.
I am currently 7 months pregnant and need to replace a main asap as the cambodian maid is very dirty which I do not want happen after I give birth. Even now I have to monitor her on the house work as she is very lazy.
I will be caring for my own baby and the maid just needs to do the housework, laundry and cooking.
I hope that someone can recommend a good maid. I also do not mind if I can get a local maid.
Thanks.
@Chris_33
How can I contact this agency in Desa Hartamas? Will need a maid to replace mine who is leaving in March.
Been pretty lucky with my maids so far (have had 3 in 7 years, all Indon). The best decision I ever made was not to allow them to use a handphone. Their families can call after 10 on my house phone. My maid used neighbour’s maid’s handphone to contact her family, that’s when trouble began. My maid’s hubby told her to come back. Maid’s mother said she she is a bad mother and asked her to come back. Maid’s daughter (a spoilt brat) cried that she wants her to come back. When I found out, I complained to my neighbour, so now SHE doesn’t let her maid use a hand phone either. But damage already done. Once my maid’s contract is up, got to send her back. Actually she doesn’t want to go back. I’m pretty sore about it because she’s a pretty OK maid and now I have to fork out tons of money and not sure if replacement will be up to the mark.
Anyone ever used Innovedge?

@conned by “ISO”
Yes, agents are having problems all round supplying maids, even though the biodatas keep coming.
Check out this article:
Hiring of Indonesian maids to resume soon
http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/articles/10pen2/Article/
Some of the maids get fed-up of waiting and decide to leave the agencies, which is then a problem for both the Malaysian agents and the employers (because it involves cancellation of the visa–if you have ever dealt with our Immigration, you know they can be such asses).
A few years back, I agreed to hire a maid whom I got to know while she was working here. She wanted to come back without the use of an agent (so she wouldn’t have to pay back an agency loan) which was fine by me, as I didn’t want to pay an agent either.
Unfortunately, after she had made her passport and we had obtained her visa, she couldn’t come because of personal reasons and we had to cancel it. The cancellation took so long that the replacement maid we had applied for (this time, through an agency) got worried and informed her husband. There was a dramatic scene because her hubby accused the agent of making false promises, and came in the middle of the night with the police to get his wife out (and I had to cancel the application for her visa as well).
I heard the dramatic tale from the maid who finally came to work for me, SIX months after the cancellation of the first visa.
Hi all,
I am
Hi all,
Had a typo earlier. Anyway, I am desperately looking for a maid now. or a cleaning lady. PLEASE HELP…if you know anybody who can get maid from indon or local who are interested to come and clean and stay from 8 to 3pm everyday till fri…whichever works..dont want to take from agency….too much hanky panky…you will lose all the time ( maid runaway, replacement, no experience, headache and heartache all the time…the list goes on)
I have an excellent cleaning lady but she can only come once or twice a week. Also depends on where you are. Will be using her too now that my current maid is going back.
Hi all,
Can anyone please give me some opinion on which maid is more suitable for me in this situation?
I am in the mid of hiring a Cambodian maid, and I’ve got 2 biodata that are highly recommended by the agency. One of them is 22 years old, single, height 154cm; another one is 35 years old, married with kids, height 144cm. Reason why i need a maid is to take care of a 2 years old boy and a 2 months old infants, plus do some housekeeping.
Any comments? thanks..
Coffeecup,
I would go with the younger one. I have a 32 years old Cambodian maid with me and she is very stubborn, lazy, eats a lot, pretend not to understand, unhygienic & even if you scold her, it is no use as she would just smile and repeat all the mistakes again.
I have also asked around and all the older Cambodian maids have the same problems and apparently the younger ones are the good ones and won’t cause problems. But I will never get another Cambodian maid again, language is also a problem when they pretend they don’t understand you because they are too lazy to do the job.
I am still looking for a new maid at the moment to replace her as I shall be delivering a baby end of this month and haven’t been able to find one. I cannot take the chances that now the maid is so unhygienic, how it would affect my baby.
Good luck to you!
@coffeecup
I agree, get the younger maid. She will want to learn how to take care of kids and maybe even looking at becoming a career maid.
The older maid probably has her own idea how to raise kids, which may not always suit you. Also, she may not be used to doing the kind of “hard work” that is required in a modern household (their homes are very basic, so they sweep and cook a bit and that’s about it. They don’t have so many clothes either.)
There is also a huge generation gap in Cambodia for the younger girls, they are now looking at careers, so they are more likely to be harder workers.
Just a reminder: one maid agent told me, if you take a Cambodian maid, you have to be patient. They are “not as smart as the Indonesian girls” (I am quoting the agent directly).
Hi, me too now hiring new maid..cos maid going back this May. Problem is my current agency provided maid immediately which i cant take it now. This is good for those who need maid on the spot. they provided Indon maid. I still worry to take Combodia due to communication. if anyone need maid can contact them they can send biodata thru email also. Normally i wil take maid aged 30-35 where they can take care kids, n do household. Younger intend to run away, find man la, bla bla and dont know take care baby. all this depend individual preference. Good luck also a factor to hire a good maid. hehe
I read Poor mama’s post regarding her maid that she got from Philimore. I beg to differ. I got 2 Cambodian maids from Philimpore(Old Klang Road). The first worked for 2 years with no problem. The second one is still working for me and in her third year of service. Coming this June, she will be going home. I intend to get a new maid and this maid will also be from Philimore. I am surprised by Poor mama’s negative comment regarding Philimore. I have had problems with my maids. I called Philimore(since I am in Ipoh) and their Cambodian Counselor gave full cooperation to me. Their customer service is superb and the maid consultant, Madam Fiona is always helpful. Please do not make any accusation that I am related to Philimore. i am just a happy customer and I feel I should stand up and give my point of view. I am in charge of Meguiar’s Ipoh Detailing Centre(Pro Car Care)in Ipoh. I can be contacted if you want to verify my existence. I am really a genuine Philimore customer and certainly NOT someone from Philimore. Poor mama, your message is only your side of your story. I am pretty sure there are more things that you did not elaborate here and you are biased.
Mary Lee,
Can I have the contact number for the maid agency? I need a maid immediately.
Thanks for sharing.
yes… hope he can help u 019-4088807
Thanks Mary
Mousechee,
Hi,I am thinking of applying for a cambodian maid from philimore but my sister told me that her maid agency claims that maids from philimore are not trained properly in the sense that they do not know how to do any basic household chores at all and as such we would have to teach them everything from zero. Whereas my sister’s maid agency did trained their maids well so much so that she doesn’t even need to teach her maid how to sweep floor, mop floor, wash dishes, cut meat, wash vegetables and etc.But unfortunately her agency does not provide cambodian maids. I hope you can share your experiences with the two philimore maids. Have they been trained properly by Philimore? Do we have to teach them from scratch? Thanking you in advance.
Hi Summer,
I wouldn’t trust an agency that badmouths other agencies, sorry.
When it comes to training, we are pretty much at the mercy of the overseas training centres. And the maid’s attitude towards the job. No matter how much training has been given, if the maid is stubborn then it doesn’t make a difference.
Some time ago I spoke to an staff from AP Kemas Cerah, and she told me what the agencies look for above anything else is attitude. Everything else can be taught. A good agent should thus be able to weed out those with bad attitude.
Unfortunately, it depends on your agency here also. If your agent here is a cheapskate who deals with sidewalk agents over there, there is no selection process and no training whatsoever. These “fly by night” agents simply take the biodata of anyone who comes along and is willing to pay them agency fees. Beware!
One way of spotting this is if your agent gives you biodatas where the maids wear their own clothes, have hair that is not neat, and not much info about the maid herself.
I would like to ask again, has anyone used this agency called Innovedge? When I called they sounded very professional. Their maids mostly are experienced maids but I would like to get some feedback.
Thanks for your advice TJ2870. It is really appreciated.
By the way TJ2870, there is this agency called Agensi Pekerjaan Ryuji in Desa Sri Hartamas. I do not know whether it is the same one that Chris_33 mention about or not but you can check it out as they own a website.
Thanks Summer.
I checked out Ryuji earlier but they didn’t have what I was looking for.
Summer,
My apology for my late reply.
Attitude of the maid is an important factor. I only need to set a work routine for my maid. Both maids know basic housekeeping skills. Only needed to teach them how to use electrical appliances( washing machine, dryer, dish washer, steam iron, etc ,except computer.lol). I also need to teach them how to ‘work smart’ too.
From what I know, Philimore gets the supply of Cambodian Maids from a maid agency in Cambodia. This agency in Cambodia gives training on housekeeping, taking care of baby and care of old folk. I took a peek of my maids’ reference books.
When choosing from biodatas, you must clearly know what are your priorities. Mine are housekeeping, pets and basic cooking skills. Select a few biodatas that you like and discuss with them on your needs. Ask them to contact their maid supplier on a suitable maid for you.
You must be patient if you want a Cambodian maid. Communication is a great hurdle.
Hi all!
I’m a Filipina staying in Bangsar. I have a sister in law who wants to work here in Malaysia as a domestic helper. She is 37 years old and she has a daughter. She is an experienced maid and a nanny as well in the Philippines. She doesn’t have experience working abroad yet so this is going to be her first time if ever..She is very clean and really good in cooking.. Let me know so I could discuss further details about her.. Thanks..
Has anyone employed a Filipino maid? What to expect from them? This would be my first time employing a Filipino maid. Pls share your views.
I managed to get from this agency that can provide immediate Filipino maids who are already here is KL and I also got to see the maid in person and interview her. The salary vary from RM750-RM950 which I think is reasonable comparing to some other agency that has high salary for Indonesian/Cambodian maids without experience.
So no more Cambodian maids for me, Thanks God after all the nonsense I had to put up with. I will never ever get a Cambodian maid again in my life!! And I will never go back to Philimore again. This agency seems to be getting more maids that has attitude problems and they will never allow you to change the maid if there is a problem. They do not fulfill their contract.
HI JL,
I do have Philippine maid but she work for me 7months only i just go back last month. And currently my agency give me a part time maid (Philippine as well)for 1 month only while i’m selecting my replacement maid. I would like to check with you, with the price you pay every month do you need to give her 1 days of once a month?
Philippine maid they know their rights and if they don’t like or they will the job is very difficult they will rather go back to Philippine rather then stay here.
I would say good maid hard to get same goes with the maid they will think very hard to get a good employer too. Wish us good luck to get a good maid.
Hi,
The agency has already make it very clear to the maids before their arrival that they do not have an off day.
So the agency has also advised me against it as with Filipino maids most of them once they start getting to know a friends, all the problems will start.
Also I get to take them home for 10 days to evaluate & see if the maid can get use to the working environment at my house, and if not then I will get to choose another maid.
Hi JL,
It sound like my agency too.. when we hired our 1st maid which just went back to Philippines. Ok let me tell you my story. This agency is our of our friend introduce to us, when we went to this agency we already told my agency we don’t want to give off day to the maid can? He say can you just need to pay extra like RM50 for her only. Then we start to go through the maid CV then we choose 1 of it, and we only get to interview her over the phone. And after we confirm my maid arrived in M’sia in 2 weeks time, and for the 1st 10days i can evaluate her and let my agency know whether i’m happy with her, if yes then he will apply her working visa n so on.
The problem start to begin when we give her m’sia sim card as we got no choice due to me n my hubby both of us working and my maid stay at home and take care my son which is only 11months and we don’t have hse phone at home that is the reason we give her m’sia phone line and she did request from us as well.
The problem start after 4 months she work for us, she told us that the agency in philippines only told her the 1st 3 months she got no off day and the 4th months onward she got 1 day of in a month. So then we call the agency and discuss and end up we agree to let her go to choose another maid as she keep changing her mind for example like, sometime she tell us she will stay back with us for 1yr once her visa expire she want to go back, then 1 month later she say she want to go back another month later she tell me she want to work for others employer. So end up she decided to go back to philippines.
Actually some of the Philippine already have fren or relative in m’sia, i will advice you not to take the candidate, as they will know a lot of thing. Like my previous maid she got 2 sister working in m’sia as a maid too but she only able to talk to 1 of her sister as another 1 sister she got no hp, that y my maid keep want to request off day cos she want to go out and meet her sister here.
And please note that their observation is very very good and they can remember everything they see n read, please don’t let your personal letter everywhere, your personal document as well. Please do not let them read news paper or watch news at all.
Mousechee,
Thanks for replying. Your advice is really appreciated.Thank you.
Looking for Maid:
Thanks for the advice. Really appreciate it. I hope that this maid that I am trying out will not cause problems. She just arrived from Philippines 1 week ago and has not been here to work before & do not know anyone here. So hopefully this is true.
I have also learn to prepare guidelines, rules and regulations from some friends that have Filipino maids to make the maid sign like a contract together with timetable. So if she does not comply I will send her back. Hopefully in my situation will be better as I have stopped working & will be delivering a baby end of this month and have decided to be a stay at home mom. Previously when I was working, with the maid at home without supervision, it is difficult to teach them and of course they will tend to be more relax.
JL
I was just wondering, are you really in need of a maid or a slave? They have the right to have at least one day off every month. You don’t have to wonder why that maid decided to go back home to the Philippines. It’s better for you just to stay at home then and be take care of your child. I’m surprised because you’ve said that they are very difficult to teach and they tend to be more relax when you don’t supervise them. My question is how do you want her to treat you or how do you expect her to comprehend with you whereas you as her employer restricted her every move, even just by talking with her friends or relatives? That’s not fair. She’s also a human too..
Looking for Maid
And for your information, Filipinas are far better.. They are hardworking, trust worthy and responsible. If you were a good employer to her and treated her right, I don’t think she will quit. Just put your yourself on her shoe and imagine how would you feel if you were her. As far as I know, in the Philippine constitution, Filipina maid are to be at least paid for 1400 rm a month compare to Indonesians and others.. I’m really sure you did not pay her that much and assuming that you didn’t how come you were treating her that way and complaining?
Kelly,
Don’t get the wrong idea. This is my first time getting a Filipina maid and I am sure that they are much more educated than the other foreign maids. Since after hearing so many cases for bad reviews, one would need to be careful. Therefore it is exactly like a working environment for an employer and employee which I would also put my shoes into hers as I definitely wouldn’t want an employer to mistreat me as well. You read that she is not getting an off day, but I didn’t mentioned that she is not getting off day to go out on her own but she is getting an off day once a week by resting at home or going out with us as a family. So do not assume and most employers just would like to safe guard as some maids do think that they are here for a holiday and does not commit whole heartily with their job. I am not saying that all are bad and in fact I have seen some really really good ones and that is why we have decided to employ one to see if we are able to work together in my home environment. It is the same for staff working in an office, if you cannot get use to the environment or workload you wouldn’t be happy working there. So of course the employer and employee have to have this probation period to test it out.
By laying out the rules and regulations as guidelines at the beginning, it is exactly like a contract for a job description of what the employer expects from an employee and if the employee is not agreeable from the beginning then don’t take up the job and it will safe time for everyone.
I am aware that she is human too and my timetable for her is more on what day to do what as some things need not be clean daily but once every week and on the weekends for saturday and sunday, there is nothing much for her to do. And of course if she does her work well, there will be a bonus or an increment in her salary just like any working office.
So please, do not assume from what you are reading and start bombarding for no reason. My worse experience at the moment comes from my Cambodian maid. She is so relax that she sleeps more than 12 hours a day.
Also not everyone is as lucky to get a good maid. and you have to agree that not all Filipina maids have the right attitude when it comes to work, this is just based on a normal human being depending on their attitude. Same goes for any human being, if you do not have a right mind set & good attitude then of course whatever you do, you will not be able to succeed.
JL, I’m sorry, that message was not for you.. I’m a Filipina as well so my heart goes out for them.. That experience of yours was horrible and I don’t think Filipinas are will be same. Hopefully.

Hi, i shared alomost what you’ve gone through with this agency PHILIMORE. I can understand how you feel and my advise to you is to seek Tribunal Office for assistant if you ever feel that this agency has been practising unfairly to you as a consumer. If you need more info on the procedures, i can advise you further.
MOUSECHEE,
I am happy to hear that you’ve had a very pleaseant experience hiring maid from PHILIMORE. You may be the 1 out of 10 employer who considered LUCKY to have been provided with such good quality maids and satisfactory customer service from PHILIMORE.
I can understand as a happy customer like you, you would stand up to speak up on behalf of PHILIMORE. One thing, you must know is that you’ve not gone through or experienced the scenario that i myself and other writers do. You definately would not understand and feel the way we does. I wouldn’t say that you are wrong and i am not admiting that i am biased. Surprisingly, this agency acted like nobody’s business though a relative of mine is working in the agency as a counselor and MOUSECHEE, you need not to mentioned several times that you are not related to PHILIMORE if you are really NOT.
As a customer, we pay for the services rendered and i certainly knew my rights as a consumer. If ever a company acted unfairly or being misleading, i would definately stand up to protect my rights and interest.
For your information, i deal with Madam Fiona Kok from PHILIMORE, Old Klang Road branch. Not too sure is she the same CSO as you mentioned. If yes, i am totally in doubt as why is she providing such an excellent service to you but not to me. Is it because you’re a business people and i am just an ordinary salary earner? Are you trying to say that they are selective towards their customers and that a salary earner like me do not required such services and attention as rendered to you? Who is biased then????
I paid as much as much as other customers do and this is definately not the right way for an ‘ISO’ company to practice and excercise their function in this manner.
Till to date, my case with PHILIMORE has yet to settle and they have failed to provide any solution and respond to my request though i’ve write in several times to their management. My point of view, PHILIMORE simply buying time just to get a new employer to take the maid before closing my fail and that they can charge the new employer the same fees as what i’ve paid (RM9200) and guess what, they dont lose any single cents but they earn double in return. What a nice money maker agency!
I’ve seek Tribunal to adjudicate my case and my hearing is around the corner. I was shocked to learned that there were over hundreds of customers filing for claims against PHILIMORE and no other agencies! WOW! If my case is just my side of story, well lets just keep an eye and see whats going to happen.
All the best to you, MOUSECHEE.
JL,
Its good to hear that you’ve found an alternative way to solve your maid’s problem and just an advise to you. Try to read through and understand the agreement or so called ‘CONTRACT’ before you ever sign up with any agency. Do make some comparison and see which best suits you. This is to protect your respective rights and interest as a consumer (too much maid agencies out there conning money) and i’m pretty sure you would not want to go through any unforseen circumstances in the future. Do not falls into trap from agencies saying that they run their own training camp in overseas and that their maids are all well-trained. This are bullshits!
Good Luck!
Poor Mama,
Thanks for your concern. Appreciate it very much.
Yes, after what I had to go through with PHILIMORE, I will of course read the contract thoroughly and properly! No more bullshit! In the 1st place went to PHILIMORE because they have ISO should be good going to a big company but now I still go back to a small company. Easier to deal with. Feel so cheated with PHILIMORE and the salary we pay for the maids there are higher but quality of maid not good at all.
Good Luck to you too!
HI JL,
Your are total right i agree with you..
For Kelly,
Please don’t not misunderstand, i’m just sharing my experience here only since i got the experience in philippino maid. We do give my maid holiday but it just that she can’t go out but she can ask her sister to come to my house and they can relax in her own room, and she also can bring along her sister to go out with her to have dinner as well and we don’t mind to pay for her sister too.
If you say i treat her no good i’m not a good employer can you please let me know whether i’m consider a good employer or a bad employer.
Basically her main job is to take care my son at that time he already 10months old, Mon – Friday morning she just need to wash out side my hse as i got a dog but she don’t need to clean/feed my dog at all we will take care ourself, after she wash outside she need to mop the floor (only ground floor)and vacuum (which she finish in 2min)and she will take her shower n wash all my son bottle and she will hang the clothes out under the son, when she finish her work is about 730am and she still got time to make her own coffee and eat her breakfast own her on sweet time.
Normally i’ll bring my son down about 8am or 830am depends what time he wake up from there she start to take care my son and play with him only. Once my son sleep then only she will cook porridge for him, normally my son will sleep 3hr a day and at that time she got nothing to do at all and play card or read news paper or she read the story book or she talk to her sister and fren from Japan too which i pay for her phone bill. And at night i’ll reach home around 630pm and i’ll bring her out for dinner she can eat whatever she feel like eating. After dinner back home i’ll take care my son by myself and she just need to do whatever she have to finish and go to sleep. Normally by 8:30pm she finish her work and she will do her own things which talk to her fren n sister sometime until 12am i still can her she talk on the phone but i didn’t say anything at all cos is her own time. That’s her life from Monday – Friday.
Beside the normal routine Saturday she will clean my ground floor which nothing much to clear as when she got free time on Mon – Fri she clean here n there a bit so Saturday basically she is free as i’ll take car my son too. And Sunday she just clean up my 2nd floor which is my room and my baby room and my another which she don’t need to clean just mop the floor only that all her job for Sunday. And when Saturday n Sunday we go shopping we bring her along too.
She work for me 7months but she gain total 8kg when she go back to philippine and further more she give her food to my next door maid to eat and we never say anything too cos we don’t mind as well. And sometime she go to my next door house and chit chat too. Can you tell me did we treat her bad until she want to go back to philippine?
During Christmas we bought her a new handphone because she told us that her phone go proble the screen cannot see and we bought a brand new handphone for her as a gift, we willing to buy for her because really did her job. But during new year, we cook and we invite our fren to our house for dinner to celebrate new year, during dinner time 1 of her fren from japan call her and she talk on the phone for about 20min and i call her 2 times to ask her help us to clean up some of the plate because we want to have some drinks and she ask us to wait she talking on the phone, 10min later my hubby call her again 2 times and she tell us the same thing as us to wait she talking on the phone. Imagine i got my guests with me when i call my maid to clean up my dining table she ask me to wait and she talking on the phone with her fren. Can you tell me what should i do at this situation? She want to eat chocolate i buy, she want to buy hair-band i buy for her, she want to buy clothes i buy for her, i see her shoe not so good i buy her new shoe, she like to drink coffee everyday i buy for her she can drink as much as she want, she want to eat bread i buy and we never said NO to her everything she want.
Let me tell you the reason why she want to go back she told us that she feel BORING here cos NOTHING FOR HER TO DO!! And her sister birthday she want to send birthday card to her sister we buy birthday card for her and help her to send and she told us that she want to ask her sister to help her to send letter to her fren because the birthday card envelop look so tick that y i ask y so tick but we found out that in the envelop she send money to her sister which she not suppose to have money with her as all her money send back to Philippine already, she send RM36 to her sister we add another RM14 without her knowing and send the birthday card to her sis, and my maid told me that her sis received the card already but she don’t dare to say about the money at all and we also never ask y she got money to send to her sis, all of us pretend don’t know anything and she also pretend nothing.
My current part time maid which is philippino as well she told me that a lot of her fren come her and work but all work less then 3 months then say want to go back, some work for 2 days some work for 1 month some work for few weeks until she don’t dare to introduce her fren to my agent even she got a lot of fren want to come here and work. She told me that philippino very demanding that want this and want that.. she herself also say that of cos i know is not all is like that, so is depends on our luck too.
