Baby Sitter Needed URGENTLY!

I teared when I received an sms from a young mum who just gave birth to her baby 2 months ago.
Both she & her hubby works & stays in KL & so they have no choice but to leave their 2month old baby back in their hometown (few hours drive) with the grandparents. They only get to see him during weekends. I am sure it really breaks the heart of every parents when U read this.
Perhaps they are not the only ones who have this struggle…….can anyone share ideas? Who looks after your child while U at work?
Can any of the moms here share or recommend any reliable baby sitters that can help look after their baby?

Just wanted to get some feedback from mothers out there. I’m due to deliver my second baby next week on 23/2 & am currently checking out shops specialising in baby full moon packs. Do any of you have any recommendations for me? Budget is not so much an issue. I’m more concerned about the food quality & presentation of these gift packs. For my first baby, we had a huge full moon do with caterers which I found tiring.

agree that we should plan ahead, and good baby sitter are very rare now, tats y even we start find baby sitter once found out pregnant, we might not be able to find one that we are satisfied with and can be rely on.
That happened to me also, both me n hubby are not local (KL), we have no relatives and family frens who can baby sit for us. the only way is to ask around like those chinese herbal shops. The current baby sitter to my 4 months old son is very good but she can only look after him until May becoz she already promised another mommy before we found her…so sad,
we are still looking for new baby sitter and not sure if we can ever find one which is as good as the current one.
what i wan to say is, not all mommies can afford to resign and stay home to look after baby, and not all mommies are lucky to have their mom or MIL to look after their baby for them.
what we need is help not criticism.
yes. but i merely suggest planning is very important. as last minute thing is really stressful, i am not criticizing. as i have been in the same situation before, i am well aware how it feels. tats why i said, planning is important. and i am hoping this is helpful to the mommies who plan to have a baby, plan to get a babysitter, it is even better if there are few plans, in case plan A is not working, there is always plan B or C.. I am not criticizing, i am suggesting.
if anyone stay in sg long area,there is a woman said her mother is very loving and looking to take k of baby, not really to earn more $, but help mother and also her mother to kill time..i do not know if she is good, but mommies who is interested can respond and i will forward her contacts..

I am torn into 2..whether to resign or to take care of my child after I deliver..sigh..I told my MIL that I will babysit myself since she told me that she will be bringing my baby back to hometown if I want her to babysit the baby..
I leave my kids with my mom and the main. I dont believe in leaving the kids alone with the maid. the stories you hear are horrible. I make sure there is an adult at home at all times together with the maid and the kids.
i am already thinking if to continue working or to take care of my boy when he is schooling, or perhaps when he has a brother or sister.. i understand the dilemma all working mothers is facing.. then i decided that i will upgrade myself in a year or 2 .. and i will run homebase biz and focus more on my kid(s).. as i believe there is no short cut to raise and nurture a good man.. *sigh*

Yes.. i was furious !! and still.. how can one done this to a BABY?? and i also blame the parents for not being sensitive and protective enough, they said they have discovered the babysitter is a irresponsible person.. so they continue to let a Irresponsible babysitter to “take care” of their child ?? they have not done enough to fully protect their child… all parents, dont do not have this “nevermind” or “cincai” attitude when you smell “danger” near your child ..

It is ashamed that the companies here do not has mother care facilities for their staffs. it is not a rare thing in america and europe. the company does not has to bear much, as they staffs will contribute each month…i think IBM or Microsoft already had this.. why cant other companies do the same ..?

I am not a mummy myself but my sister gave birth to a beautiful baby last March. They (my sister n her husband)brought a maid before my sister conceived n was planning to train the maid whilst in confinement but there were some problems n the maid had to be sent back to Indo.
My sister is a working mom n our mom lives abroad so we had a problem there for a bit but my sister managed to find childcare facilities in the end
Maybe you ladies here might consider the same? I notice most people look for a person to take care of their baby n their baby alone n there is nothing wrong in wanting full attention for your baby but I helped my sister look around before we decided on the one to send my niece to and there are some very good childcare centers around KL.
Some were family-run, some were lonely-lady-looking-for-a-job-n-decided-to-open-a-nursery, some were just purely business and some were family-run but they send each n every member of their family-who-work-their for full training and there was one that insisted all their staff have a degree in childcare and development.
The one my sister now sends her daughter to is in Damansara. Age range is from birth to 7 years old I think but they old take 5 babies under 6months old at a time. All their staff are local and fully trained. They have CCTVs all over the place for security, and in case your child comes home with a bruise. They give you daily reports too and I think that sending her to a childcare center is good because she also learns to mix around and play with kids her own age.
The fee is not cheap. It was RM1000 per month when she was under 6months old n now that she’s a little older it’s RM800 but it’s your baby isn’t it?
How did we find childcare centers like that? GOOGLE BABY! hehe. Or just ask around. I know that some nurseries only take your child if you’re recommended by their existing customer.
Had the maid stayed, my niece would probably end up too attached to the maid. Don’t want that do we?

currently I’m working part time (3 days a weekly full day) for a company. I’m a mother myself. I always think how can i work and take care of my own child at the same time? I always be a big child myself. I love to cook creative meals for my child, nephews and nieces too. And some more nowadays i can see alot of parents are searching for reliable and somewhere near their home for babysitters. Even my freind send her 2 mth old baby to a daycare no other choices. I always think that izzit a good idea for me to open a babysitter center to allow parents to put their children there. That’s come with food, nap time, playtime & other basic stuff. If you put yr children at a 1 to 1 babysitter (especially chinese) will be costly. Yr children also get the same treatment at this center with lesser cost. I also try to help out other working parents. What do you guys think? Btw, I’m at OUG.

I have the similar story of sending my first born to live with my parents (2 hours drive from KL) and only get to visit my kid on weekends. It’s difficult and frustrating to be in this position. Due to not able to search for a reliable baby sitter and day care, it left us no choice, plus we trusted our parents more with handling our child rather than a stranger.

It’s very important to spot check your newly hired baby sitter. The first baby sitter that i got was terrible! I was very shocked and angry when i found out that she brought my daughter (1 month plus) to shopping mall. A person with some general knowledge wouldn’t bring a newborn baby to public place where virus and disease can be easily transmitted! She didn’t even admit her fault after I argue with her. Such a ignorant frog!
Lukily, I got a very nice and dedicated baby sitter later. She always make sure my daughter is clean and let her wears napkin during day time (because she said wearing diaper is very hot and it’s expansive). Another good thing about her is she only charge RM900 per month (day and night, 6 days a week).

there are a lot of baby sitter who baby sit for the sake of making money and that is why they don’t really take good care of most babies, you will be lucky to meet one. my aunt in her 50s still care for some baby (she lives in PJ old town), she’s very good as in very dedicated, clean. i said this not because she’s my aunt as she is not baby-sitting for money these days as her children are all grown up and quite well off. i remember i would hear from her that she would ensure she mopped her whole house every morning before the parents send the baby over because she really emphasis on hygeine and all the babies under her care will surely be chubby as she ensures they eat well, eat right food, clean, ensure their napkins, clothes etc are in tip top condition and ensure they take their afternoon sleep (not nap but sleep). she really take well care of those baby with well care, she always tell us that the baby will lost weight when their parents care for them that i believe. let me know if you want her contact, you may want to try.

this is not the first time i see parents leave their kids at hometown because too scared to try look on their own. for me, they need to be brave, when they’re pregnant, start looking and ask around. impossible for 9 month not to find any good nursery or baby sitter. you know where u stay and where u work at, so you know where should u send your baby to. some ppl like to send near to workplace while other send near to their house. i have 3 kids and have tried all possible solutions. baby sitter and nursery and finally i decided the best would be a nursery near to my house as my kids doesn’t have to go thru jam with me and their meals and basic education is taken care well in the nursery. whatever it is, need to survey around and check and always check.

It’s definitely the ideal if we can find someone to take care for baby with passionate and enjoy taking care of baby. Unfortunately i had been searching for a babysitter since i was 5 months pregnant till now just delivered but was not happen to find one that sastified in my area. I had 2 older kids were babysitted before by some aunties but we found that they normally will just provide the basic, eat, sleep and bath. Doesn’t really care on their development. I put them back at home to stay with maid when they start to able to communicate at 2 and i found they are much more happier when staying at home. But staying with maid have another problems. The maid didn’t dare to lecture them and now they become very uncontrol, i would said.. like monkey when there are only them at home with maid when both of my husband and me out for work. I had think of quit my job and become fully housewife but i am also worried about the house income and worried if i can able to make use of the changes. I will like to hear from you or any others if you have any opinion on my situation. Besides, if anyone of you know if there are any caring person in Cheras Taman len sen or Taman Tun Hussein Onn here that willing to take care baby, please do let me know. Thanks.

Exactly, dis is the reason why i choose to quit my job and to care 4my own kids.
I am able to understand that child’s safety, health and nutrition and developments are all mommies utmost concerns.
Therefore, i took up babysitting as to relieve some of my financial commitments.
Also, having the intention to assisting other mothers, without having to worry for their child’s welfare, so to achieving in staying focus while at work and at their career.
I believe, watever is ur decision, will be the best interest of ur child.

I am having the same problem as you are.But I still keep my son at home and my hubby is taking care of him while I off to work.But i will rush back during lunch time to bath him and buy food for my husband and then rush back to work. Luckily my work place is very near to my house. I don;t really trust some of the babysitter . We went to inquiry before and the babysitter asked us to pay her 2 months deposit…why we need to pay so much deposit while we have to put our most precious at their place?? And she mentioned to us before that she will keep the baby inside a room without bringing them out….sigh..i really don’t know how their brain going to development when they are being cage inside a room..
