Cervical Cancer Vaccine-Take or Not?

Posted by admin on Aug 10, 2008

This has been the talk of town!  Have you been vaccinated? Have you got the Cervical Cancer Jab?  Apparently this is a very important innoculation that ladies have to take.  It is not only for those who have given birth or the sexually active. Do read on & find out more about this as it prevents Cervical Cancer by 80%! (apparently la)

We checked with DSH (damansara Specialist) on their pricing but it vairies between different gynaes as it seems there are 2 types of product in the market. Anyway DSH price is RM500 per jab & you will need to have 3 jabs at 0months, 2 months and 6 months, altogether. So cost of the vaccination is RM1500.

BPA-Free bottles?

Posted by mom2one on Apr 23, 2008

Was forwarded by friends on reports regarding BPA (Bisphenol A), a chemical that makes hard plastic, which makes about 95% of baby bottles in the market.

Including famous brands like Avent! (except for their VIA cups) Since no recall has been made and Avent website says that whilst their bottles contain BPA, but they think that it’s still safe for consumption (http://www.avent.com/uk/en/learn_more_faq_bottle_feeding.php#q20).

A visit to Jusco store and you will also see that some bottles have a special ‘BPA-free’ tag, Nuby brand if not mistaken.

I’m rather concerned, since this BPA seems to cause quite some serious problems later on in life (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisphenol_A). I’m currently using the Avent range of bottles. Doing away with those bottles means lots of $$ leh!

Anyone has better idea if we should change out bottles or it’s just an over-reported incident?
